Renovated Mill House in Historic Golden Belt

This beautifully renovated Mill House is the perfect home base for your Bull City adventure: 2 bedroom/2 bath home sleeps 4, with plenty of space to spread out in the spacious kitchen & living rooms.
Take advantage of the brand new kitchen to prepare meals, or to keep your leftovers from the dozens of delicious restaurants in the Bull City.
Walk to the Historic Golden Belt Mill for events, dinner or a new tattoo!
Convenient to the Airport and highways, easy access to Downtown, Duke & RTP

I travel a lot, so you will probably not meet me! (In fact, you’re staying in the house because I'm not)
Most of your communications, though, will be with my friend Emily, my local co-host. She’s close by if anything comes up!

This neighborhood of mill houses in East Durham was developed for the workers at the Golden Belt Manufacturing Plant at the turn of the 20th century. The Plant, one block away from the home, has been renovated into art studios, restaurants, offices and an event space.
The neighborhood is full of young families and homes being renovated. While this house is at the end of a quiet dead end street, it is adjacent to an active road. A fence is in the works, but has not yet been installed.
You are also a mile to the center of downtown Durham. Walk to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, jog to the American Tobacco Trail, or take yourself on a progressive food tour through downtown and back! You will feel far from the bustle, but you can’t find a better location to relax between activities.

You’ll have the entire home and property to yourself, including plenty of free street parking for 2 cars.
The yard and porch will be phase 2 of the improvement. You are welcome to use them as they are now, there just isn’t much furniture!
NOTE: While we’re pet friendly, the yard is NOT fenced!

I’m delighted to share my home with you! I’ve renovated and decorated this original mill house to retain the original charm, highlight historic features and seamlessly incorporate modern amenities. I hope you’ll find it as cozy as I do! Bright bathrooms and unique furniture sourced from local reuse shops provide accents to the rich original wood floors, classic molding and high ceilings.
The kitchen and living room are open concept, structured around the original brick fireplace. Enjoy streaming your favorite shows or movies in the living room on the smart TV, or cooking a meal in the spacious kitchen.
Primary bedroom includes a private bathroom. Second bedroom has a desk for use as a private workspace.
Best of all - entertain your friends & family on the piano in the entry hall!

olden Belt is conveniently located to get around town, or to neighboring communities. You’ll be an easy bike/drive/Uber/Lyft distance to:

- 1 block from Golden Belt Mill (High Wire Brewing, Cotton Room, etc)
- .5 mile to Ponysaurus Brewing Company & Krill
- 1 mile to City Center (DPAC, Durham Bulls Athletic Park, American Tobacco Campus)
-1.5 miles to North Carolina Central University
pus- 3.5 miles to Duke University West Campus

Feeling the need to get outside and move? You’re 1.5 miles to the American Tobacco Trail & 17 Acre Wood, and 2 miles from Duke’s East Campus with its 1.75mi gravel loop. Check out the Durham Hike and Bike Map online or in your Welcome Basket for a complete guide to Durham’s 80+ trails and parks.

As you plan your travel to, from and around the Triangle, some helpful distances:
RDU Airport is 15 miles (about 20-25 minutes) away
Durham Amtrak, Bus Station and MegaBus pick up are 1.5 miles away
NC-147, and access to I-85 & I-40, is 0.7 miles away
It’s easy to get to Raleigh (25mi), Chapel Hill (9mi), or RTP (10mi) with a car, cab or Lyft/Uber.

There is parking for 2 cars available on the street.

As stated in the house rules, there is an automatic minimum $250 service fee for any violations of house rules that require additional cleaning and/or cause damage. This is my home, which I’ve designed to be comfortable for me & for you! I appreciate you for exercising the same level of thought and care when staying here.
While we're happy to host families, please note that the house is not “child-proofed,” nor do we provide any child-focused amenities (no crib, pack-n-play, high chair, etc).
We do ask that guests are relatively quiet after 10 PM, as a courtesy to neighbors. Parties and loud groups are not permitted. Thanks for helping us be good neighbors.
You’re welcome to use the washer/dryer - please note they are Compact, so please keep load sizes small!
Smoking or vaping of any substances is not permitted on the property.
Well-behaved pets are welcome (no more than 2 please). The yard is not fenced at all, so pets are required to be leashed and supervised outside.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, guests are expected to abide by CDC/WHO guidelines, as well as all North Carolina and Durham Covid-19 guidelines. Many private restaurants and arts venues are requiring proof of vaccination to enter. Full up-to-date orders can be seen at ncdotgov.
During your stay at this holiday home, you'll be within walking distance of Durham Hosiery Mill. The holiday home offers free WiFi and a kitchen.

This is a cute little house in a residential area that is still in transition. The busy roadway on the main living area side of the home brings noise and an uncomfortable feeling with all the people who walk by the home. However, with the main bedroom on the other side of the house, the traffic noise wasn’t a problem. The house itself is old with the usual creaks, unevenness, and smells. The modern open floor plan of the living area, the presence of a washer and dryer as well as the upgraded kitchen appliances are positive aspects of the property. The communication with the property manager was good once we made direct contact with her. The use of a third party to clear us as guests was unexpected and intrusive in the information it was asking for although we understand the owner’s needs for verification. It just should be noted in the beginning how much information will be requested.

Had a great stay. It’s a very old home but they have done some nice updates. The location was great for visiting our daughter who lives in downtown Durham.

The stay was okay I like the antique style but it is not suitable for small kids, the barn doors ?
The host Emily was very nice she left us a welcome card, Thank you ! Everything was fine but like I said it is little dangerous for small kids. Those sliding barn doors are very heavy. My family and I enjoyed our stay. Thank you again.
