Wow! This was such an amazing property! A really old hotel with a lot of character ! The staff were very nice and the location was superb! Many ties pick you up a stones throw from the hotel ! I would highly recommend this location in the old town!
The hotel is in the center of the town and the area is very quiet.

The care taker Nicos was friendly, accommodating and just charming. The property was tucked away no kind of hard to locate but worth a simple night in the middle of the old town .
We arrived in pouring rain as a hurricane blew off the coast. It was comforting to hear the splash of water falling from the rooves into the narrow streets below through shuttered windows of this converted Byzantine tower . Comfortable bed and wi-fi ok. Ample breakfast in room opening to pretty courtyard. Situated in the old city and surrounded by shops and restaurants. If you park your car overnight in the nearby Municipal Gardens car park, purchase a pre-paid ticket for 5 euro from the kiosk when you arrive, otherwise you may have to pay 13E the next morning, as did I.

Typical Greek Hotel
After booking a late hotel, we were disappointed on arrival at this place. Very basic and whilst having some lovely features the place is badly in need of some TLC. Breakfast was the same every day apart from the pastries. Don’t attempt to go here unless you can manage steps.
Great hotel, fantastic staff, handily located. We stayed only the one night but dearly wish we had stayed for longer. We were made to feel extremely welcome. The breakfast was excellent, and the beds comfy.

Disliked: Room comfort
Beautiful Hotel. But the beds were unacceptable. You could not move in either one without them making a tremendous amount of noise. They were very uncomfortable and nearly no sleep was achieved because of them.
Nicos went out of his way to help us. On July 19 our ferry was two hours late from Santorini and our car rental was canceled when we arrived in Heraklion (don't try and rent from Gold Car/Ace without an international drivers licence). We arrived at the hotel at 12:30am and Nikos let us in an showed us to our room for 4. It was a great room with a loft. Breakfast was simple but awesome and is served in a stonewalled room with Bougainvillea overhead.
After breakfast Nikos and his wife asked us to review our booking and informed us that according to their records (and ours) we hadn't booked the previous night but our stay was set to begin on the 20th. No trouble according to them. They just said we were lucky the room was available.
In our opinion we wished we had another day in Rethymnon as Chania didn't live up to what people say about it.
Beautiful little family run hotel just inside Rethymno old town and near all the shops & restaurants, but tucked away so no noise from outside at night. Nicos, the owner couldn't be more hospitable. The breakfasts are continental style - so much food we never managed to finish one. If you're looking for somewhere with authentic Greek charm I would recommend.
The hotel is built in the traditional Greek style and full of character and charm. Situated in the centre of the old town the hotel with it's pleasant courtyard it is an oasis from the bustle.
We had a very enjoyable stay here in a lovely room overlooking the courtyard. Nicos the delightful owner, always ready to offer advice on places to visit, recommend shops, tavernas etc. and generally chat with guests. Breakfasts are served at your table (thank you Koula), which really gave us a good start to the day. As with any Greek town there is some street noise but with the windows closed it's not noticeable. The maze of back streets of the old town are just around the corner. We hired a car but did not use the adjacent car park at 8 euros a day, park down near the Fortezza and walk up through the back streets. This must be one of the best places to stay in this fascinating town.
Sehr zentral gelegenes Stadthotel. Sehr netter Besitzer.
