The location is what helps this property be worthwhile. The price for the week before Christmas was similar to two other much nicer hotels a short distance away but the people I was traveling with had stayed here previously & were insistant on booking here. The rooms are tiny! Im only 5'3 & I kept bumping into everything. Pluses are, good heating system, & nice hot water. Except, the hot water reeks like sulfur. Really bad! & the shower is super small. We had a room that was facing the church, so it was beautiful. Plus very close to lots of restaurants & shopping. After walking the whole city, the other two places I wanted to stay, are also very close to great dinning & shopping. One more plus here was the free parking right across the street. You do share it with the public, so its first come first serve, but I found a spot each time. If you do tours, the bus pickup is a short walk across the street.
I dont eat breakfast so I cant comment on that. But the free hot cocoa is nice.
Hospitality in Iceland is....different. The people are very cold, dont expect a warm hello no matter what language you speak.
Rooms were cleaned daily, housekeeping was very friendly & nice, she was not Icelandic.
There was no gym or work out facility, bare bones amenities. But its a charming location. And really in a place like Iceland, how much time do you spend in the room.
