Overall, I was pleased with my stay at the downtown apartments (Ingólfsstræti 8). It was very convenient for exploring Reykjavik and also perfectly located close to Bus Stop 6, where both airport shuttles and tour buses pick-up/drop-off. Restaurants and shops are also right down the street, as well as a grocery store across the street.
Because these are apartments and not a traditional hotel, it's self check-in. I found the instructions clear when it came to using the door code and then accessing your key in the security box. The biggest drawback of this was the lack of bag storage. My flight arrived in Reykjavik at 4am and I was stuck with my bag until check-in at 3pm. Perhaps a storage cabinet could be added outside of the 2 apartments?
When I did check-in, there was still dirty water in the sink and wet spots on the floor, but as a whole the apartment was clean. It was nice having a kitchen but I did not get to use it much. And while the apartment is fairly spacious, the bathroom is really small; therefore, it's difficult to shower without water spilling onto the floor. There was no floor mat in the bathroom and no extra towels; only a squeegee to try to push the water away from the toilet and back into the shower.
Normally I wouldn't mind not having daily cleaning service, but because of the wet floor in the bathroom and having only 1 towel for the entire stay, that was inconvenient.
Again, I was happy with my stay overall, but there's room for improvement.
