Go elsewhere
Of a two week trip I took in Italy this was, by far, the worst of the accommodations. The rooms are crappy. The WiFi is weak. The style is dated and is in need of a MAJOR upheaval. I say tear the place down and begin from scratch. The pools are disgusting, I didn't even dare go into them! The refrigerator had a key to open and close it ... the key was broken ... so they supplied the half of the key that wasn't broken in the lock to jimmy open the fridge. Unreal. Hey, how about you fix that?! Just an idea. The breakfast was the WORST!!! Pastries, some from the previous days, laid out on a table along with meats. That's it. No eggs either cooked nor hardboiled. Coffee machine was near broken. And the worst was to see the sign that stated that guests were limited to one glass of orange juice, otherwise they will charge you extra ... WHA?! I can't have two glasses of OK?! Really, Hotel Atlantico? There was an old lady who watched the orange juice machine like a hawk. It was a priority that nobody had an extra glass of OJ!!! Tables were not cleared. Disgusting. Just another example of why I am taking the time to write this review to tell others not to waste their money, not to waste their vacation time at this sub-par, horrible, good-for-nothing hotel that has prices at over 100€ a night. A total loss of money. The stay at the Atlantico was the low-point of my trip. It's embarrassing - for them and for me to say that I stayed there. Never again, stay away!

A holiday to remember
We stayed 10 nights and because of the length of time they gave us a lovely room with a huge balcony. The air conditioning in the room wasn't very efficient and they were prepared to move us to another room but we coped. The management were very friendly and helpful and sorted out any problems promptly. The continental breakfast were excellent and the waitresses were likewise. The position of the hotel was superb with just a short walk to the town and restaurants. Considering it was a 3 star hotel we thought it excellent, definitely would recommend it.

Classic Italian charm
Lovely hotel. It is a fairly old building, and bedrooms aren't huge but great gardens, pool and public spaces. I really quite liked the town itself - a typical old-fashioned small Italian seaside holiday town. I found it very charming. The hotel staff were warm and helpful and impeccably polite. Would like to go back!

Happy with the choice of hotel.
The staff were courteous and very friendly. Good location, few minutes from centre of town with restaurants and a supermarket. The beach was also close by, and a nice place to go for a walk. We had a quadruple room as we had 2 young children. The room had a balcony, with table and chairs for us to sit and relax. Kids had a bunk bed and TV in their room which kept them happy. Indoor pool was good place for the kids to have a swim, and there was also a nice seating area. Breakfast had a reasonable choice, and a delightful old lady made us omelette every morning. We only stayed for a few days, enjoyed our time there and would definitely stay there again.

comfortable hotel in great location
Great location, within 5 minute walk of excellent restaurants. Lovely big room with very very comfy beds, friendly helpful staff , access to both indoor and outdoor pools and beach within 5 minute walk. Overall standard of cleanliness was high, breakfast was good with a daily choice of 12 different types of cakes. Good centre for exploring Tuscany.

Hotel Atlantico in castiglioncello, Italy
The indoor swimming pool was very humid and not very clean. The outdoor pool was further down the road. There were no facilities next to either pool , such as bar etc. We found the town itself very unfriendly. Only two restaurants/cafes were friendly (ghostbusters and the main restaurant in the centre). There was hardly anything to do at all in the town. Also, if you wanted to sunbathe next to the beach they charged us €18 for half a day. We will not be going back.

Hotel rooms are tired and in need of update. In main hotel, a/c in room was very noisy and ineffective. Rooms also very small with ill designed furnishings. After complaint re room, were moved [at 11pm] to another room in adjacent villa - better quality, but still in need of some refurbishment. On plus side, staff were very helpful re moving rooms that late and let us see proposed new room before we accepted. No menus re lunch/dinner -almost as if they did not want you to eat there. A pity - could be a top class venue, given central location.

Lovely hotel close to good beaches. The room was very clean and had very nice decor. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful!...all we had to do was ask for something and they would get it straight away or help us out with maps, etc. The breakfast was nice with a good selection. Hotel has nice relaxing areas to have drinks at night and sit outside. Owners' dogs were also very cute and friendly!! The indoor swimming pool and aromatherapy shower were fantastic!! Really relaxing stay!!

Great, family run hotel. The breakfast is generous though Americans will expect eggs and bacon, you can pull together a fine meal of yogurt, cereal, coffee, fresh-squeezed orange juice and a slice of their many sweet pastries. The beach is just a short walk away - lovely, shallow cove with warm water. The staff was helpful and always happy to see us!

delightful hotel and area
We spent 10 days at this hotel and found it a delight. family run , nothing is too much trouble. staff all so courteous and friendly. . Few minutes walk to the sea, town , buses, and 7 minutes to railway station. , The evening meal in the hotel was good . The outdoor pool in the villa (150 yards away from main building) although small was just what we wanted and very rarely crowded. We were able to explore the area by bus and train ( 2 hours train to Florence and 40 minutes to Pisa.)--0k once we understood the system. .Our rooms were large with plenty of cupboards and drawers, at times can hear noise from other rooms . A charming hotel in a charming resort ,and we hope to return next year .

hotel was nice in lobby, people super friendly and spoke english. Worker even showed us around and opened our rooms for us. Parking not ideal if hotel is busy. Breakfast, standard. rooms a bit old fashioned and no carpet, but bathrooms appear to be redone. think that is the look they are going for. bit musty smelling but I think b/c of the age of the building. town really nice.

A mixed bag..
We recently booked Hotel Atlantico at short notice for our honeymoon. Overall, the hotel is a decent place to stay and Castiglioncello is an attractive, walkable small town with beaches, rocky shoreline, pine parks and several decent restaurantes. The hotel's location is good, with the sea, restaurants and a supermarket 2 mins walk away. When we arrived at the hotel, no English speaking staff were available and the room we were given was a family room (had booked a double) and, confusingly, had separate room numbers for the two bedrooms (a double and a twin). We were concerned that the twin room might've been booked separately - meaning that we'd have to share a bathroom - but this turned out not to be the case. The rooms were fairly typical 3 star Med hotels - basic and a little old but spotlessly clean. The air con unit in the double bedroom was temperamental. Our room was next to a road that gets busy at times (leads to the beaches), which was fairly noisy. Breakfast at the hotel was disappointing: very much continental in style, but much of the food was left out uncovered (with plenty of flies buzzing around) so we stuck to cereal and coffee. The hotel's indoor pool is fairly new and nice to sit outside in the courtyard area. The outdoor pool area was a disappointment: it was small, with no shade and located at a separate building down the road. Free wifi on request was useful and the English speaking members of staff were all very helpful when approached.

Clean and friendly hotel
A very nice hotel with friendly staff and extremely clean. Outside pool not very big, but it didn't seem to ever get over busy. Good choice at breakfast, typically continental.
