Great stay only issue were the flood lights that are used at night are directly facing bedroom windows and even with curtains fully closed still lights up the room, it also prevents enjoying the view in the evening as you can’t see anything as the lights are so powerful.
At one time this property would have been grand but unfortunately it needs a lot of work done to improve it. The main floor was the only area that was kind of clean. The staff could use training as they seem to be unorganized and often idle. The outside table's never got cleaned over the several days we had been there. The room we had smelled of mold and there was signs of water leaks. There was a newer acrylic tub that had been installed in the bathroom that when you stepped in it, it felt like you would break through the bottom of it. It felt very sketchy and unsafe. The only positive is the beautiful view and the gardens going down the hill are lovely.
I will start with the positives. The staff were very friendly, the bedroom & bathroom were a good size. The shower was really powerful. The bed & pillow were very comfortable. The gardens were very nice & there was a great view from the terrace.
However, the hotel in general was very tired. What appeared to be the original entrance for reception was taped off with red & white plastic tape preventing access from the car park. There was a gap under the bedroom door into the corridor. The bedroom floor was a bit wonky & creaked loudly. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly & the hot tap in the sink didn’t turn off fully. The view from our window was of the roof tops in an internal courtyard. There appeared to be some kind of extractor fan running in the courtyard, which whilst not loud, was continuous.
This was obviously a very grand hotel in its day, but shows it’s age.
Requires updating. Shower Matt had mould, the shower tray had mould, the was a leak in the bathroom window and the sill was rotting. One bedroom window had a crack in it. In the stairwell you could see damage in the walls and ceiling from rain. Couldn’t use the front entrance due to damage.
Breakfast was good but expensive. Room was cold even with heating on. Towel rail in bathroom didn’t work. Bedding was clean but carpet had stains on.
Spacious room, comfortable bed and good breakfast.

Although I enjoyed my stay at the Glenburn and would return again the approach to the building with the main entrance taped off is a bit of an eyesore. Hopefully the repair to the structure of the building commences soon.
Incredible Victorian grandeur, stunning views, and as an historic building lovely...but is in need of TLC, modernisation and updating. Staff were friendly, great base to explore the rest of the island.

Lovely old hotel
Sadly not having Saturday evening entertainment as in previous visit
Clean and surprisingly cheap rooms. Excellent staff. We drove through the car park to the rear entrance and parked on the hill.

Good hotel in a perfect location.
Recently stayed 2 nights here for work purposes.
First issue was finding somewhere to park, it is a big hotel with very little on site parking.
Check in was very quick & easy & the staff were brilliant & friendly.
The room itself was pretty comfy & warm, bathroom seemed a little outdated however.
Never ate in the hotel so cant comment on the food.
The hotel is in a brilliant location, 5 minute walk from the centre of town & a nice walk due to the nice weather i had.

The exterior of the hotel is excellent, beautiful garden with plenty of colour (Sept) with stunning views over the bay shops and places to eat within walking range around 5 mins , the general appearance on entering the building was grandeur, the professionalism from the reception was very pleasant and professional, after given our keys and directions to our room it sadly becomes a bit tired damaged and dirty walls and stairs in corridors stained carpet , the room was pleasant but house keeping could do better in the way of dusting otherwise fine , one detail I find unhygienic is the placement of bath towels etc on the corridor carpet not nice to see , otherwise staff very professional and attentive to your needs time and money spent could make this a beautiful place to stay thanks for the great stay.
The Hotel is such a beautiful building with the most gorgeous gardens but parts of the building need attention inside and out although I understand this is something that is to happen soon. Having said that the room itself was lovely, very comfortable, clean and warm. Had a tv and tea and coffee facilities, good shower and good clean soft towels. It is situated very central so not far to travel into the town where you can travel on to other areas.
Would definitely go back again.
