First, and obviously, this is a retired riverboat with a long history of serving guests. The restoration seemed complete to me and while the amenities are first rate and functional they retain their charm. You feel the history and elegance from the past. I chose a city-facing stateroom and that was fine. The view from my stateroom windows wasn't why I was there. The windows were smallish but let some nice morning light in.
My trip to Sacramento started with my arrival at 6:30 in the morning but my check in time wasn't until 4 that afternoon. About 11:00 I asked if I could drop my bags off and asked if it would be possible to check in early. Angie, at the front desk, could not have been nicer as she checked my luggage, checked me in and said she'd call if a room became available. It was perfect and off I went!
The food was good and the bed was comfortable, the rooms quiet and warm.
Though the service in the bar and restaurant was great the breakfast was less than I expected with modest portions and some underdone eggs at one point. No big deal. Their coffee was very good.
The proximity to all of the Old Town sights can't be beat! It's all either at the end of the gangplank or within a block or two. All the shops and museums and bars are right there!
