Good stay and pretty quiet area downtown but close to everything. The hotel is pretty nice. The only thing is, if you want your room cleaned you need to put a sign out. Ours kept flying off our door knob, so our room wasn’t cleaned. Though I admit we didn’t exactly lodge a complaint. Staff were very friendly.

The hotel was outdated. The room smelled and bathroom was dirty. We got an early wake up call that we did not request. I asked for towels to be sent up that morning and they told me to come and get them.

Great location for the river walk, the Alamo and the Villita area. A very nice hotel. The lobby area is super smart. They have a large communal TV area. Which to be honest, as a foreigner, I didn’t sit in as it seemed to show continual American sports and it felt uncomfortable sitting there as a non sports fan. The bathrooms are small but the bedrooms are well equipped. I found it lacking in little touches that let it down slightly. The pool area could use some plants, the windows only have pull down blinds and so you either sit in the dark or have the blind open. The hotel corridors were dark but nothing there to cheer them up. Little things that can make a difference. I would recommend staying here. The location is good but note it is only valet parking. They are super quick to retrieve the car though.

I was a little put off when I first arrived - the lobby and first floor was chic, clean and welcoming. And then I got in the elevator.... this is an older building that has been updated as much as possible but still shows its age in wall cracks, dingy lighting and hall carpets and outdated fixtures in the bathroom. Having said all that, we stayed four nights and had a wonderful stay! The beds were comfy, the room clean and the towels decent. Our room was so quiet and stayed dark when we wanted to sleep in. There was virtually no hall noise and minimal street noise on a Saturday during a big festival in the area. Everything in the room was functional and staff was good about answering questions. I appreciated the text check-ins and quick responses when I needed info. The food in the Gavel restaurant was average but we enjoyed the great attitude of the server who was working her tail off (very under staffed). Same for the nighttime bartender who made our Sunday night football time fun. Overall, getting out of the hustle and bustle of the main riverwalk area was a godsend. This hotel is just on the edge of the activity and the noise level virtually disappears on their street. We would go back. Convenient for walking to just about anything you wanted (except retail shopping). Uber and taxi service was very easy from this location.

I have mixed emotions about this review. I booked it because the photos looked amazing for all the common areas, and the rooms they showed. Upon arrival the employee at the front desk was on the phone and didn’t say anything to me or at least give a gesture that they would be with me shortly. I asked for a handicap room for my mom which they were able to accommodate but the handicap room was not conveniently located in the hotel to the elevator. You literally had to walk around the corner, then down that hall and then around another corner and at the end of that hall was the handicap room! Most hotels make those the rooms immediately off the elevator. So that was a huge inconvenience for us. The rooms were updated but dated at the same time. The bathroom was worn down, the tv didn’t work properly at times with trying to change channels. The tint on the window was a joke, all you had to do was put your face close enough to the window and then you could see completely into the room. Had I not checked, I would’ve assumed the tint was good enough! That’s a HUGE safety/privacy risk! Valet is $40 which isn’t horrible seeing as it’s available 24hrs. They do put a $100 hold per day you’re there for your stay. I probably will not be coming back to this hotel because the pictures don’t do it justice compared to once you’re fully in the room.
