Before I get into this review I have to say I'm a frequent traveler to this property and always held it in high regard for what is is, but now the reality: I was there for a week this trip. They put me in a damp room but with new carpet. It smelled of old smoke and new carpet glue. I'm not too picky on work trips and not a Karen so I stuck it out. But, after the first night I started to get a bit chapped about the itching on my legs and forearms, I figured some no-see ums were getting me during the night, I thought my bad Iuck until I got home and was still itching for a week. Quick trip to the doctor who says "good news, you only have Scabies" and gives me the cure.....still scratching after another week although getting better. Another annoyance, the property had become a nighttime repository for the construction company workers working on the local interstate repairs. That comes complete with many road crews, nightly parking lot parties and lots of construction trucks coupled to trailers. I don't know where the wrong turn came from but this property needs to have a few proper audits to get things back on track. I could there great place it was but there devil's in the details.

Convenient location and nice accommodations at this price point. I like not having to go through a lobby to get to my room. There was a lot of construction vehicles and equipment which made maneuvering through the parking area a challenge.

Ridiculously small, old, weird smell, blanket had holes in it, doesn’t come with a microwave. Manager had exceptional service to bring us a microwave. Would not bring my family back.

Things Change
The staff and security guard were very friendly. That is why the 4 stars. Otherwise, and maybe this is a comment on San Diego, but the place has gone down. The room was not as nice as others I've stayed in at that location in the past. The maintenance looked unprofessional. Old rooms, Homeless and welcoming city immigrants all over. Not great for a vacation stay. Had some comfort that the nice security young man was on staff watching the parking lot all night. If he wasn't there this place might get a 2 or 3 star. It's the area has changed and is in a state of decay. Made it a little sketchy. All this I would still prob go back, the staff did a good job, so not their fault. Rates are good, but I might spend more to be in a nicer, more secure location. I don't blame Best Western for this,

Our stay was fine. Room where cleaned and plenty of parking. The only thing that I did not like was that rooms where not next to each other even though I called a day before our stay to confirm that they were. But other wise everything went well.

I liked the location of the hotel and that we got the room on the first floor like I asked and that our 2 rooms were close to each other. There are no perks, the room water was for sale and not provided as a welcome gift. The parking was good and the staff looked like they hated their jobs.

Rude desk staff
staff were rude to say the least. We figured that if you did a third-party reservation, you had to wait till later in the afternoon to get your room. Since we travel to San Diego frequently, I would like to have used your hotel on a regular basis. However, because of the desk staff, we will not be doing that. Not all desk staff were rude. There was one person there and that was extremely helpful and compassionate.

Ups and downs
We had to go every day to ask for an additional bath towel. Even AFTER telling them there are 4 staying in the room. It was also booked stating there would be 4. Check in was 4, we got there at 3 and had to find something to do for an hour, they said it would be ready at 4. IT WAS NOT!!! had to wait about another 45 minutes. If you needed something from housekeeping (bag for ice, wash cloths) you couldn't get them, only housekeeping had them. The bar was to stay open until 10, the night I went in at 9:30, she had it closed up and was mopping the floor. The guy for the diner was super sweet!! The pool was warm the first night and cooler the 3rd night. It felt good on the first night.
