Nice hotel, conveniently located within walking distance, friendly staff, easy access, but felt worn out and old, the wallpaper outside our room was peeling off- I guess water damage, and the hotel had a musty smell.

The record player in every room was a nice touch and signing out the records was super easy. Even in the lobby there was a place to check out games and books as well. The nightly happy hour was warm and cozy, morning coffee before setting out for the day. The room made us feel like royalty. Everything about this place was amazing including breakfast at the restaurant Abaca. The staff made us feel welcome amd willing to answer any question we had. Will definitely be booking again!

The hotel was great! We had a very clean, quiet and comfortable room. The staff was amazing and even let us checkout @12:30 so we could have brunch before we left town. Highly recommend this hotel for the location.

The elevator broke and we were stuck. There was a significant delay on us contacting the emergency services from the elevator and the front desk being aware. They weren’t prepared to address the situation as management was not available. Would not recommend my kid was pretty traumatized. Old elevators are pretty scary.

Great location.
Friendly and welcoming check in staff, although it was a little hard to hear with the loud DJ booth right beside them, wasn’t really an issue - just seemed ‘odd’. Room was nice, comfy and clean and quiet. Great location. Really enjoyed our weekend in San Francisco. Restaurant was fabulous.

We had such a lovely experience at the Alton and would definitely stay again next time we're in town. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There's an evening social hour every night with free drinks and the vibes are always great. Loved the vintage/boutiquey feel with all the cleanliness and convenience of a luxury hotel. Super close to public transportation. We did not have a car during our stay and never had an issue catching a street car or bus nearby.
