The room never got below 85 degrees. The window in the room was missing the screen. It was 20 degrees cooler outside the room. It was a long night of battling the heat and fighting off mosquitos.

Wonderful staff!
wonderful staff, from security to reception personnel. Other than that, I did not like anything else about my stay at this hotel. I won't repeat even if I am desperate and this hotel is my only option.

Our stay was good, we loved the pool. The weather was awful 95 degrees. We asked for a stand fan which they delivered to our room. So we can't blame the uncomfortableness on the Hotel itself. The front desk was just as miserable.

terrible hotel
no AC and it was 100 degrees. the room smelled like mildew and the door to the bathroom wouldn’t really open. no water at front desk. manager was laying on the lobby sofa when we left. there was a nasty carpet throughout the building. the photos are definitely not comparable to the actual hotel. they must have been photoshopped. also the ice machines were broken during a heatwave and there was construction on the 4th floor that was so loud.

It was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I stayed for 10 minutes and immediately checked out and into a different hotel. No AC when it’s smoldering hot outside. Wish I could get my money back since I don’t stay longer than 10 minutes but hotels.com nor the management of Soma hotels refuse to give my money back. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

I had a wonderful time. Although some reviewers have complained about the homelessness, it’s no worse than any other city I’ve been to and it’s better than East Hastings and Main Street, in Vancouver Canada. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful; I arrived before check in and they offered to take my bags and also invited me to enjoy breakfast and the pool while I waited. Thanks for a great holiday, I will be back.

Parking cost more than staying at the hotel and I wasn’t prepared for that as we have stayed at this property before and it was free parking. We parked our own car so I don’t know why it says “valet parking”. Our room was 80degrees as there was no AC and they offered us a fan but then said there was no extra fans to give as they were using them in reception area. Definitely don’t see us coming back here. Nathan at front desk was the best part.

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your hotel. I had previously stayed at your hotel and had a great experience, but unfortunately, this time was quite different. I want to bring to your attention the issues that I encountered during my stay. Firstly, it was an extremely hot day in the city and there was no air conditioning in my room. The fan provided barely worked, and when I requested to switch rooms, I was told that there were no available rooms due to a busy weekend. Additionally, the water in my room was not cold and the fridge provided did not work. To make matters worse, when I plugged in my hairdryer, the switch gave me a shock. This was a very unpleasant experience. My positive comment is that the staff was very kind and amicable. I hope that you will take this feedback into consideration and take the necessary steps to ensure that these issues are addressed for future guests. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

A pleasant stay
Soma House is a nice little hotel, and a very pleasant stay. The pool was pleasantly warm, and the bed was comfy. The rooms were clean, although some of the common areas were in need of an update. My one critique - I could not get hotter than lukewarm water for the whole stay. I wish I could have had a nice shower!

Very relating stay. The room was very spacious and clean. The only thing it needs is an AC unit instead of ceiling fan and a window to open. Had to check out of one hotel and check into another. They were great when I called about a possible early check in. They ended up securing me a room to check into but they could hold my bags if I wanted to wait for a room

I’ve stayed at this location 4-5 times now, some before new/current owners. Check in was easy and they held our bags since we got in earlier than check in time. A few issues was the toilet was plugged before we used it, not great. When we checked in there was a pile of used towels in the hallway and they were there for almost 24 hours. Also, they claimed to upgrade us to a deluxe room but it was not deluxe, the room was small and cramped and the window was stuck. Several times throughout our visit, the cleaning staff were loud and chatting with each other. It was weird considering how loud they sounded. They were talking to each other from various levels. No judgement but if someone is trying to rest, it would be very difficult to get some peace and quiet. The front desk was nice and helped with getting maintenance in our room twice. Just would prefer not having to request help. I’ve had way better experiences here. I’ll keep trying for a revisit but judging from this experience I’m not holding my breath.

If you’re looking for somewhere quick and easy without any finesse or jazz, then stay here. While the rooms have been updated a bit, and the sink area of the bathrooms have been, the tub/shower/toilet area of the bathroom has not and it definitely gives off strong Motel vibes. Your room WONT have air conditioning in it - but the ceiling fan is pretty darn powerful, and if you prop open your door for 30mins after getting in, it cools off decently. Definitely cool enough to sleep. The coffee, while it being a Keurig, will be decaf - read the small print on the pod - and housekeeping doesn’t have any regular caffeine pods. The pool is heated, but not regularly cleaned - so it had a gazillion floating dead bugs in it (mosquitos?) and wasn’t appealing to get into the pool. The neighborhood is pretty dicey, but folks stick to themselves and don’t bother you - just look out not to step in stuff while you’re walking around. All in all, I wouldn’t stay here again, but if you make the mistake of booking here without reading reviews first, it’s not terrible - but a couple blocks away are some much nicer options.
