I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express near the San Jose airport in Costa Rica and had a great experience. The location is incredibly convenient, especially for anyone needing quick access to the airport. The facility itself was fairly updated, and my room had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was cozy, and the space felt clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even better. One of the highlights was the excellent fresh breakfast, which featured wonderful fruit and a variety of options to start the day right. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its convenience, comfort, and quality service. I’ll definitely stay here again when traveling through San Jose!

The bed had springs sticking out of it and that was very uncomfortable making for a horrible sleep. The room next to the presidents suite room #6400 was flooded out and had immense mold in it. Our room 4400 had water damage in it and smelt like mold plus the window in the room also shows a hallway- a public hallway. We also went out for dinner at their restaurant. Service took over an hour to get our food (we were the only table in the restaurant) drinks were made with fake syrup and the food was poor. I wouldn’t recommend this place. And I would like a refund.

Always a perfect spot when landing in SJO for night 1. Restaurants and casino right next door. No need to drive anywhere. Any quick shuttle service to and from the airport. Staff is awesome.

So Lovely
Everyone here was so lovely. The shuttle driver was there to meet us at the airport. The breakfast host was superior, bringing us native fruits and telling us about them. He even made a balloon animal for a child there. Would highly recommend.

This hotel was very mediocre. For a more affordable and “local feeling” experience I really enjoyed the Adventure Inn nearby. And for this same price of around $145-$175/night I just find the Marriott to be much nicer. (Courtyard Marriott & Fairfield Marriot are my usual go-tos when I’m just looking for something quick) I wanted to stay somewhere new and be able to explore walking trails and enjoy a hot tub/pool … so booked this one because those areas looked nicer here than the Marriott, but my flight from Limon was delayed & it was pouring rain so didn’t actually get to use. On the plus side, staff were friendly, water pressure was very good for Costa Rica (can actually get shampoo out of hair), and they have shuttles to and from the airport every 20 minutes which is convenient. (Same as Marriott) I would not stay here again for a few reasons - (1) doesn’t feel as nice as other tourist heavy airport hotels nearby that are all the same price (2) I was in a room on ground level so maybe not an issue for everyone, but it was super noisy as I could hear the front desk check-ins and suitcases conversations coming down the hall pretty much all night long (3) No vegan/healthy options or local beer/snacks offered at all. Options for dinner were a chicken place & a Dennys in the parking lot. I was exhausted so opted for Dennys - and all I could eat was a mediocre salad that somehow cost $35! No bueno lol.
