The place was lovely, beach was amazing. If you are going for the pool, nit sure my rating would be as high. It was crowded. But at beach We always got chairs, and towels aplenty. Room was nicely updated and housekeeping was top notch.

We had cockroaches in our bathroom and our sleeping are. They did move us to another room, which was clean. When I complained, they were very respectful of me and they took off two days worth of resort fees. Very professional and understanding. The hotel furnishings definitely needs updating.

Family vacation. We had stayed at a stupendous resort prior to this so that augmented our mediocre at best experience here. For the prices and “resort” fees, having enough lounge chairs and umbrellas at the pool is a must. Also, other amenities (kayaks, water bottles in the rooms, etc.) should be included as they are in other resorts. Not sure when it was updated but it already looks rough, room smelled humid and a tad moldy. Overall, would not return.

There aren't enough good things I can say about this place. Having traveled to Puerto Rico several times before, The Royal Sonesta takes the cake! The staff and kind and accommodating, and the best part was there was no hidden fees or charges when I checked out, like I have experienced many times before at other properties. The complimentary breakfast that was offered for staying in a club room is wonderful. They also provided daily complimentary happy hour drinks and appetizers. The beach and pool are just beautiful. I will definitely be staying there again and will only be staying there!

We loved our stay in this hotel. Both the beach and the pool area is amazing. There is something for everyone. Spent time at the beach most of the time. Staff was very helpful and we like that there was food and drink service to the beach. Also bar at the pool was amazing. Room was clean and hotel staff was nice and helpful. Only thing is the coffee machine in the rooms probably need an upgrade. It was a Nespresso look alike some cheaper version. It was very clunky and capsules would keep dropping into the used bucket as soon as you put the capsule in. Otherwise no complaints. Water temperature was good but the ocean was too windy and had some passing showers. For those looking for tropical beach calm waters this is not it.

Not Worth the Price – Disappointing Experience Our stay at the Royal Sonesta was underwhelming and did not justify the high cost. We booked an ocean-view balcony room, which offered a lovely direct view of the beach. However, the balcony itself was disappointingly small—too cramped to accommodate seating, making it essentially unusable. Additionally, while the ocean view was lovely, the sight of neglected, dirty rooftops below was an eyesore. The hotel appeared understaffed. There was no beachside service, and poolside service was scarce, making it difficult to order food or drinks. The beachside bar was closed and under construction so there was constant noise. To make matters worse, a large conference was taking place during our stay, and the attendees dominated the hotel. Their scavenger hunt or group activity was disruptive making it hard for guests looking to relax by the pool or beach. Dining at the on-site Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse was another disappointment. My chopped salad tasted more like coleslaw, and I had to send it back. Additionally, when we requested tap water, we were later surprised to find a $9 charge on our bill. Overall, while the location and beach views were nice, the lack of service, disruptive atmosphere, and disappointing dining experience made this stay not worth the premium price. We would not choose to stay here again.
