About this property

River Front, Fishing, Kayaking, Boating, Tubing on the Edisto River

Welcome to our beautifully fully furnished Edisto River retreat home. Just 40 miles outside of downtown Charleston and 15 miles from downtown Summerville you can find our charming 4 acre gated river paradise with a private fishing pond. If you are looking for relaxation and river adventures, this is the spot. Fully furnished with new appliances, internet and cell phone reception. Direct private river access with canoes and kayaks for use while renting.

An old fish camp originally built in the 1960's that over the years had additions to give it the unique country style. A great space for enjoying time with friends and family surrounded by nature. We purchased the property in the fall of 2018 and have worked hard to transform the house into a beautifully rustic and spacious cabin with both indoor and outdoor living spaces. Fully renovated in 2024 after the 100 year flood, the house is better than ever. The property is shared with two luxury RV sites with hot tub across the pond which are also available for nightly rental for tents, campers and RV/ motorhomes. Future plans to rent the executive cottage are in the works upon completion.

The heart of the cabin is our 300 sq ft fully equipped commercial kitchen with new appliances. This fish camp style kitchen allows space for entertaining or preparing large meals for your family and/or friends. The eye catching wooden bar can seat 7 comfortably.

The cozy living room is adjacent, and has a large 55 inch TV, games and bar. A comfortable Italian leather couch completes this room. The main bath is down the hall with a brand new tiled shower and custom wood counters.

The spacious 600 sq ft screened in porch includes a 70 inch TV with surround sound, beautiful leather couches complete this comfortable lounge area. On the other side of the porch is a large dining room table that seats 8 along with a Foosball table for your entertainment.

The separate private master suite is less rustic and charmingly furnished Fully remodeled in 2024. This 400sqft room has a large King bed, leather swivel chairs create a nice lounge by the fireplace with large wall mounted tv. Also included in this suite is a fully stocked mini kitchen and full bath, not to mention the small jet garden tub. This is most charming part of the home with great views of the river off its porch with rocking chairs.

Bedroom 2 we call "A Room with a View", as it is a private room with a separate entrance off the screened in porch. The 3 panoramic windows give it a 180 degree view of the river and forest. A comfortable queen bed, dresser and WiFi TV are in this room. This room has central AC and a separate wall AC /Heat for your comfort. Fully remodeled in 2024 this room is a favorite for many.

Bedroom 3 we call the "Bunk Room," furnished with a large wooden twin over full bunk bed as well as a log built twin over twin bunk bed. This is a perfectly comfortably room for both kids and adults. This room also has its own entrance and contains the washer and dryer and wall mounted TV.

The surrounding property consists of 4 acres most of which is an island. A half acre fishing pond, which can be used to practice paddling many of the included canoes and kayaks, is stocked with a variety of fish for great fishing fun for kids and adults, make sure to bring some poles. We have new horseshoe pits up near the entrance as well as cornhole boards in the common areas shared with the RV site guests.

The riverfront portion of the property has a small boat launch (walk-in access) for the kayaks and canoes, a small floating dock to fish off of and a giant yard to play games etc, We provide classic yard games such as Corn-hole, Horseshoes, Croquet, and Tether ball. A large 900sqft old charleston brick patio with southern tradition Adirondack chairs that can seat 12. These chairs surround a fire ring with full river views. Fire wood is included for fires.

Weddings and Events:
Weddings and events are allowed only with a separate contract and pricing. You will need to contact us directly and discuss the options of what you wish to do prior to booking. The entire property can be rented for full privacy.

Luxury RV Sites:
Across the pond and near the entrance to the property on the left are two private luxury camp sites, for tents/motorhomes/campers up to 36ft in length. With full hookups, large paver patios with furnished gazebos, hot tub, and luxury bathroom, they are perfect for those who have visiting guests. Sometimes occupied by others they do not have access to the larger property unless part of your party. Contact us for availability.

For safety, the exterior of property is secured with security cameras covering all points of entry. The interior of the home and private spaces are private and no cameras are present. Messing with, destroying or turning off our security is grounds for being removed from the property.

IMPORTANT RIVER SAFETY:
The Edisto River is a dark fast-moving river with lots of trees, bends and can be quite dangerous or deadly to both the inexperienced and experienced. Water levels can rise quickly. If you are unfamiliar with kayaks or canoes or navigating in fast moving water, we highly recommend you book a guide and let them take you down calmer parts of the river or just paddle in our pond. Safety is the most important part of your stay at our home. Edisto River Adventures is a wonderful family run business who are very knowledge of the river and can book trips. Please find their brochure in the basket under the TV in living room.
Many guests are avid kayakers, and still take advantage of the guided services in the areas nearby. These guides can meet at a variety of places up river depending on how long of a paddle you want. They deliver the boats and can provide transportation back to your car or house if needed. The typical paddle will be between 2 and 5 hours guided or unguided depending on your skill level and where you put in. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment.
If you choose to paddle without a guide this is at your own risk. The calmest route is at the edge of our property upstream (to the left when looking at the river), there is a nice calm 20 min paddle through an old river cove. If you hug the shore it’s an easy paddle to the cove where there is little to no current when the water is low.
The kayak/canoes that we provide on our property we ask not to be taken downstream. If you paddle them downstream you can be gone for a long time as its over 2 miles to the next landing or 6 miles to the bridge landing. Only thing in between is wilderness and swamps. It would be a long walk home and the sheriffs do not rescue at night. You will be responsible for all lost gear and your lives. We ask you do not utilize the dock at this time.
The Boat Launch (walk-in access) on property is for kayaks and canoes only, no power boats can be launched. This is why we refer to it as walk-in access. If you have a boat, you can launch your power boat from Good Hope landing 2 miles downstream and tie up to the dock. We are not liable for your boat left in the water tied up. Experience on the Edisto River is advised when using a motorboat, the water is very shallow and hidden logs are submerged.

We want you to have the best experience you can have on the Edisto River!! Sit back, relax, eat good food, have laughs, make memories and take in the beautiful nature surrounding you. This is a one of a kind location that will leave you wanting to come back.

Rustic with a classy twist
The beauty of the river and the cypress trees supersedes the funky convenience of the hunting lodge/luxury accommodations, but the beds were so comfortable, the kitchen so well- equipped that it’s difficult to select one “best thing”.

Would stay again!
This was a great location to gather with extended family. Modern and rustic. Loved the large open kitchen with a bar that seated 7. Included pretty much everything to cook our own meals. Spent a lot of time playing games and foosball on the large, screened porch. Kids loved the fire pit and making S'mores. Was really nice to have kayaks and canoes onsite with life jackets. Big hammock that was a favorite spot to rest & relax away from the cabin. Everyone loved it! Be prepared to drive at least 15-30 minutes to get groceries, supplies, nearest restaurants, etc. Approx. 1 hour to airport or beaches. Overall, 9 out of 10!

Great getaway
The property and host are great! The host was very responsive and offered plenty of recommendations for activities etc. The layout of the house is very unique and the giant screened-in porch being central is the perfect hang out spot. We spent a lot of time on kayaks and canoes provided going just up the river to a protected cove. Perfect for kids. Would definitely recommend to anyone and we hope to be back.

Vacation stay
Our stay was good. Very rustic. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, cooking pots/pans, utensils and other items (toaster, blender, coffee, etc.). The air conditioner had a hard time keeping the humidity out but was part of the rustic property. Sitting on the porch was nice and the view of the river was great. We enjoyed our stay.

Awesome River Property!
I can’t say enough good things about this property. It was an amazing experience which the entire family enjoyed. This is right on the river in the middle of a quiet remote area. The setup is unique with the house built around a screened in porch to enjoy the nature setting. The main house is rustic but updated and a great gathering spot. Tons of space inside, outside, and on the property. We enjoyed kayaking in the pond and on the river. The kids loved frisbee in the yard, cornhole, fire pit, and foosball on the porch. There are chickens and the owner brought us fresh eggs! We thoroughly enjoyed the week we stayed and left very refreshed and relaxed.

Peace and quiet
The house was just what we needed and the screened in porch was amazing. We wanted a place away from everything and we found it here! We fished, grilled, fire pit, stargazing, and best of all we just got to enjoy each other's company. The kitchen had everything we needed with alot of extras. The 3 main rooms gave everyone there own privacy. We will be back soon. The description and pictures on the listing are just how it is when you see it in person. That's one thing we always worry about.

Truly a Gem!
We found this place looking for somewhere other than a boring hotel to stay in for a family wedding outside of Charleston. My kids were set on a beach house, but I'm a procrastinator so by the time we booked, that wasn't really an option for the weekend. The whole family ended up being SO glad we stayed here. It was like Shangri-la for us as nature lovers and for me as a person that also loves to be in the woods and by water. It's an old fish camp on the river that has been renovated and updated. So comfortable with everything you need - updated appliances, plenty of kitchen space, comfy beds - but our favorite part was the screened-in porch living area that was located in the middle of the house. There are plenty of games provided as well that the family enjoyed playing on the porch every night. We also loved the stocked fish pond - both for catch and release and for a safe place for the small ones to kayak and canoe on their own. (Our swimming dog loved it as well.) The view of the river and the sounds and stargazing at night are amazing. You are out "in the country" so either pack food in accordingly or plan to make a run to the grocery store in Summerville about 25 minutes away. The host/owner was actually around staying across the pond and working on another house adjacent to the property for part of the time we were there - super friendly and helpful! Glad we got to meet him while we were there. We literally did not want to leave and are already planning to come back when we can! Thank you for having us! !

The Edisto River Lodge is a wonderful retreat into nature. The sights and sounds are soul soothing. The lodge is charmingly rustic. The yard is beautifully landscaped and particularly stunning at night. There are indoor and outdoor games a plenty! The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils and tools you could need. All the beds were comfy. I would happily stay again!

An Amazing River Home
The lodge sits beside the Edisto River and the natural reserve. It is very clean, quiet, and well maintained with a lot of lovely details. The host equipped us with everything we need to enjoy our one-week vacation (life jackets, games, and plenty of wood...) We went fishing, played the Foosball, canoed, tossed the bean bag, lighted the campfire...and made a lot of family memories together. The children also thought the three chickens are super cute. We greatly appreciate Dustin's responsiveness and thoughtfulness as well as the beautiful photographs on the wall taken by him!

Beautiful, restful retreat!!
This property was wonderful. The fishing was great, the kids and adults loved the canoes and kayaks, I spent lovely time reading in the hammock, and there were plenty of indoor and outdoor games. The perks of this property are the location on the river, the stocked fish pond, everything we needed was already there other than personal fishing equipment, the firepit and aderondack chairs made excellent outdoor fun (we even did hot hogs and smores over the fire one evening), the kitchen is an excellent fisherman’s kitchen, and the kids loved the large outdoor porch and tv in the evenings. The chicken coop was another perk. My boys love the outdoors-so it was a while nderful get away. The kids have asked to go back soon. We really enjoyed our stay!!
