Located in the Salzburgerland, Sankt Margarethen im Lungau is also called the valley town of the top ski resort Katschberg. The small town offers several amenities for your daily needs and a fine selection of restaurants.

The famous Katschberg ski resort is THE ski area for a perfect skiing and winter holiday! Situated directly between the states of Salzburg and Carinthia, it offers 80 kilometers of slopes for relaxed and sporty skiing and snowboarding, 17 modern lifts and snow safety thanks to an altitude of 1,170 - 2,220 m. With the neighbouring ski area Grosseck - Speiereck, the family ski area Fanningberg and the wellknown Obertauern ski area, approximately further 250 kilometers of slopes are accessible throughout the entire ski area!

Located between the local mountain Aineck and the Grainwald, Sankt Margarethen im Lungau is also an ideal starting point in summer for numerous activities in the Salzburg Lungau region. There are around 60 mountain lakes, such as the Prebersee or the Schlierersee, the Lungau/Katschberg golf club is close to the town centre and the idyllic swimming lake in St. Margarethen im Lungau, the public swimming pools in St. Michael im Lungau, Mauterndorf, Mariapfarr and the BadeInsel in Tamsweg provide the necessary cooling down during hot summer days!
