Overall the place was nice. The breakfast was a plus. Maybe it's just me but paying almost $300 for a motel is very high. Where I live the average hotel rate is about $125.

Sandpiper Lodge is an older hotel but has a feel to it as being down home and family like. This is my place to stay in Santa Barbara.

Hotel is a bit dated and run down but was otherwise clean and comfortable. A/C in our room leaked water into the carpet immediately underneath the wall unit. It also ran constantly despite the room getting to below the desired temperature. Not a big deal given the temperatures while we stayed here, but could be an issue at other times of the year. Breakfast and pool were both good. Surrounding area also had a number of restaurants in a very short walk. Would recommend Sun Sushi (if you can get a table).
