Relaxing Seaside Location, Beautiful View, Great for Weekend Retreat from Santo Domingo
This is a really nice, new place in a relatively quiet area of Boca Chica.
Advantages:
--The interior of this particular is very pleasing, with a small, circular staircase up to a loft where the queen size bed and bathroom are. The interior is largely white which makes an attractive backdrop for entertaining or just photos of friends. It's architecturally interesting.
--The view of the sea front is quite nice from the fifth floor. You can get a bit of the sound of the surf (but not a lot).
--It's not too hot, even upstairs. I was there in the middle of summer and thought the upstairs might be too hot without air conditioning. It wasn't for me, because both downstairs and upstairs windows can be opened. (I am accustomed to living without air conditioning in a warm climate though.)
--The location is directly across from the best restaurant in Boca Chica, "Boca Marina".
--Staff was very courteous and friendly and recognized me on my second stay.
Disadvantages:
--A bit of street noise, but not too much. The other side of the building (looking east) seems to be slightly quieter but the view isn't as good. Take your pick.
--No microwave or coffee maker.
--The windows on the main floor are openable (but lockable) with a low sill. Therefore might be a potential danger for small children. Just be aware.
--It is a bit of a walk from the main city center especially at night. This is good and bad. You are away from the noise. Having a car is good but not absolutely necessary.
Summary: For the price, this is a nice deal and very attractive venue.
