An aging rock star?
Hotel Max is central, hip, and functional. We stayed here once before in a different decade. It has a great location and accommodations are just fine, but given the competition in Seattle, it came up a bit short on this stay. Parking is always a bear in Seattle. Valet parking is $65, but we self-parked two blocks away for $8 for a one-night weekend stay. The bathroom evoked London. In other words, it was tiny. We had a basic king bed room which was fine, but again, small and meh compared to other options in Seattle. One of the elevators was out of order and check in felt like we were crashing a band's album release party. The price was right and the location is prime. But we'll likely find another option nearby next time.

We had a plesant stay at this hotel. It appeared clean and the staff was very nice. It was very individualized as a hotel, with darker decor, and it had its own vibe. The only cons is the fact that either you pay for parking across the street (which is unsecured and may not be 24 hours) or you pay for the hotel's valet. That should be more clear in their description. Also, while the room was okay, there was an awkwardly large step up into the bathroom. There was dining options within walking distance and it was a safe area. If you into art and music, this is the place for you.

The area is in is great for wandering around during the day (shops, restaurants, Pike Place) but the area is a dead zone of things to do at night. Unfortunately it's also an incredibly loud area at night for whatever reason, as I heard multiple shouting matches, cars peeling out from traffic lights, and at least one gunshot during the evening. Also while I appreciate that they're conscious of bed bugs, maybe they shouldn't keep the jug of big poison in plane sight. Made me crazy paranoid.

Rooms and beds were super clean and comfy. Great location! However, walls are thin and it’s very difficult to sleep. I went down for coffee at 6am and there wasn’t any coffee. I asked the front desk girl and she grunted that 6am was the correct time, but did nothing except throw a blanket over the random person sleeping on the lobby couch. I waited 15 minutes and went back upstairs because staring at the sleeping person was awkward. When I showered and returned to the lobby there was coffee and the person was now sleeping sitting up. Overall the hotel is nice but not for light sleepers or early risers.
