THE TRAIL
Ready for an adventure? Take an adventurous hike on our private mountain trail! Our trail is about 1.75 miles long, but extremely rugged and steep, and largely unimproved. It is a true Tennessee mountain wilderness experience! (We recommend only experienced hikers tackle it.) THE TRAIL IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN.
THE AREA
The BlackBeary Chalet is nestled all by itself on 30 acres, surrounded by mountains and nature. But it is still only a short drive to all the attractions nearby. It is less than 15 minutes drive to the Metcalf Bottoms entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and the Foothills Parkway, and approximately 30 minutes to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, depending on destination and traffic.
THE ADVANTAGES
The BlackBeary Chalet is privately owned and operated. In the unlikely event that issues should arise, you will be communicating directly with the owner, who has the authority to make things happen! We commit to doing everything in our power to resolve issues as soon as possible for the Smokies! Ensuring an enjoyable stay for our guests is our highest priority!
ONE MORE THING.... DEFINITELY READ THIS!
The serenity of this location, and its awesome mountain views, comes at the price of a long and very steep, but manageable, concreted driveway. (Consider it part of the adventure!) We Do Not allow Loaded maxivans or mini buses up this driveway- they often fail to make it up the drive, if arriving in a maxi van there is a parking spot at the bottom to lighten your load by unloading luggage and making a second trip down. Please follow these precautions for your safety! ( most other vehicles are fine)
Renters will be required to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle for any stays from October through April. We also highly recommend trip insurance during these months, as the drive is impassable in snow or ice. If you have any question, feel free to contact your host.
Thank you!
