We know you'll love it here in the historic lobster-fishing village of Shag Harbour, nestled between the communities of Yarmouth, Barrington & Shelburne along Nova Scotia's South Shore. We are an eight-minute drive from Cape Sable Island, with its unspoiled white sand beaches and the province's tallest lighthouse, as well as the Town of Barrington with shopping & dining available. The Shag Harbour wharf and lobster fleet are a short walk down the road, as is the Chapel Hill Museum and Sea Tower, with spectacular ocean views.
Extraterrestrial enthusiast? Then Shag Harbour is probably known to you as the site of the infamous UFO incident of 1967! The UFO Information Centre and crash site are popular tourist destinations, again within walking distance.
More traditional sky lovers, star gazers and photographers will enjoy our dazzling sunsets, sunrises & star-filled skies.
Unique local wildlife: seals, gulls, cormorants, herons, crabs & other shellfish, sanderlings, piping plovers and so much more are found at our incredible local beaches.
