Carolyn's Lighthouse a Bright Spot on the Horizon

Nestled within the picturesque fishing village of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, lies a charming, newly renovated German-style cottage, just a short seven-minute drive from the unspoiled shores of Topsail Island. Positioned along the tranquil banks of Fullard's Creek and tucked away on a secluded gravel cul-de-sac road, this cozy abode offers a serene retreat where the stresses of everyday life effortlessly dissolve.

Owned and operated by a seasoned chef and former manager of a prestigious five-star lodging establishment in Italy, this cottage underwent a complete remodel in 2020, revealing four spacious bedrooms and inviting open-concept living areas. Designed in an H configuration, the cottage features a shared bathroom between the bedrooms. The first bedroom boasts a luxurious king-size bed, while the second and third bedrooms offer comfortable queen-size accommodations. The fourth bedroom caters perfectly to children with a full day bed and two twin beds. With ample space to accommodate up to 10 guests, each room is equipped with a 50-55 inch Samsung TV, providing access to local channels and streaming services, complemented by complimentary WiFi. Both bathrooms offer identical amenities, including indulgent walk-in spa showers, with linens and towels provided for added convenience.

Setting itself apart from standard vacation rentals, the property offers an array of unique amenities curated by the owner, such as a private gym outfitted with professional equipment for adults, a boat ramp catering to skiffs and small boats (accessibility dependent on tides), complimentary kayaks and basic fishing gear, and an outdoor movie theater for entertainment under the stars (weather permitting and at the owner's discretion).

Guests are promptly notified on the day of arrival once the property is meticulously cleaned and ready for check-in, with access facilitated through a contactless check-in process. Operating on a philosophy of attentive yet unobtrusive service, the owner ensures a hassle-free stay while respecting guests' privacy. With a commitment to surpassing guests' expectations, the property holds a prestigious 5-star rating, earning recognition as a premier host.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Sneads Ferry, the property offers easy access to the pristine beaches of Topsail Island and its own private boat ramp for boating, fishing, and water sports enthusiasts. Fullard's Creek, a tidal inlet adjacent to the property, provides opportunities for shallow draft vessel excursions during mean and high tides, flowing into Chadwick Bay and onward to the New River, connecting to the Intercoastal Waterway and the vast Atlantic Ocean. Guests are encouraged to bring their boats, jet skis, kayaks, or canoes to launch conveniently from the private boat ramp or kayak launch on the property.

Beyond the cottage's doorstep, guests can explore the vibrant Sneads Ferry community, offering a blend of coastal living reminiscent of Key West, the Outer Banks, and Myrtle Beach without the crowds. Local amenities, including restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, surf shops, and the nearby Food Lion, cater to every need, while the annual Shrimp Festival in August celebrates the area's rich maritime heritage. Golf enthusiasts can tee off at the nearby North Shores Golf Course, boasting scenic views just a 5-minute drive away.

Cancellation Policy: For reservations during April, May, June, July, and August, cancellations made within 30 days of the arrival date will not receive full or partial cash refunds. Instead, guests will receive a credit equal to the initial reservation amount, redeemable for another date at the same location within one year of the original reservation. For reservations outside of these months, full cash refunds are granted for cancellations made within 30 days of the arrival date, or guests may opt for a credit towards a future stay at the same location.

Beautiful place, perfect location
Rick is a wonderful host, he made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The house is cozy and well stocked, the porch is great. I don’t think my mom and aunt left the porch the entire time we were there. The theater room, that can be viewed from the comfy outdoor furniture or the heated pool, was definitely one of our favorites. We sat with the kids after dark and watched a family movie, after sitting around the fire that Rick was polite enough to get started for us. In addition, we were minutes from the beach and local eats, but other than a few surf shops the area isn’t touristy at all, very down home and comfortable. But we drove just a little way down the road to surf city and Wilmington where we found a large variety of shopping and restaurants. Plenty of things to do. Very peaceful stay, thanks again Rick!
