Good Base for Eden Project

Pros: This hotel has an interesting history and is within a listed building and who ever was responsible for the decor has a very good eye.
Cons: Consistency in food quality as even the locals recommended White's Restaurant to us. New mattress, every time one person moved the other was disturbed
Location: We visited the Eden Project and Charlestown during our stay
We stayed in room 4 which unfortunately was above the kitchen fans, on asking how late they ran we were told they were switched off at 9.30 pm, so no problem. As the weather was extremely hot it was necessary to have the windows open as being such an old building there was not the luxury of air con - although a fan was provided. Whilst the fans to the kitchen were turned off the cooling system to the cellars was not - and was probably working overtime to keep all the beer chilled! This resulted in a constant droning noise most of the night so not particularly good sleep. Having read the really good reviews of the hotel restaurant we decided to eat in White's Restaurant on our first night there. Our table was booked for 8.00 pm and our main courses weren't served until 9.00 pm - anticipation was building as you can imagine! I don't know if we were just unfortunate but both our meals were over cooked. My husband had cod baked in salmon which was very dry at either end - the middle section was good though. I had the Cornish lamb chops and was expecting possibly 2 nice thick chops but instead received 3 rather thin ones which were very dry as they were too well done. The fresh vegetables were very soft and the chips were also overcooked. So overall not the experience we were expecting. The waiter apologised and said he would pass our comments on to the chef but we heard nothing further. The next morning at breakfast the bacon was hard and dry as it also was overcooked

Stock buchen.
