Loved that the rooms were named after authors! We were looking forward to having a drink in the Fox and Hounds prior to dinner, but the bar didn’t open until 5 and closed at 10 and we had dinner reservations /concert to go to. We hoped to jump in at 5 and grab a quick drink using our coupon, but it still did not open at 5! Complimentary breakfast was a pleasant surprise and included hot eggs, sausage, and lots of pastries. Would give 5 stars, but we like to have a cocktail prior to retiring for the evening at the hotel bar.

The decor is dark and over the top Tudor. Parking is inconvenient. The room was noisy and there was nowhere to hang the towels in the bathroom. The hotel shows signs of wear. The staff were helpful.

This is a very unique property with a British theme. The rooms are named after authors and the conference room has a Queen Elizabeth theme. We enjoyed relaxing in the lobby. It is a big property but feels like a boutique. Area felt safe. Very Near WashU and Forest Park. Loved the on site Italian restaurant and the wine shop with fresh bread one block away. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, but like so many people in St Louis (Uber drivers, restaurant staff etc), several hotel staff smelled heavily of weed as did the foyer and several exits. I guess a gummy won’t do the trick. My kids wanted to leave St Louis just to escape the weed smell.

A Great Place, Mostly
The lobby and halls and most of the room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. One issue was that two of the lights and the phone were not plugged in and I had to pull out two heavy tables to get to the plugs. It took about a half hour to get the phone charged enough to call the front desk. Also, when I pulled out one of the tables, there was a LOT of dust and fuzzy stuff along the wall behind it. If you are going to make a guest pull out a heavy table, at least clean behind it! Best thing about the place was the staff at the front desk. Very friendly and helpful.

Nice old style hotel. The pub is a bit dark and does serve food. There is another nice restaurant and prices are reasonable. Felt like I was in England or Ireland.

It's a tired hotel that could use some updating in garage and some lobby areas, but the rooms are nice and clean, and upgraded shower/bathrooms in our room was excellent. Have yet ro sleep on a comfortable bed. Could use all new mattresses in the last 4 years have stayed there, not once a bed that didn't sink in the middle.

The room was fine. Beds comfortable. Bathroom vanity could use a fresh coat of paint. Weekday free breakfast not ready at 6am as posted. The pub is a fantastic place to hang out!

Great place for a weekend getaway
I really enjoyed the property. Comfortable rooms, really great breakfast. Couple things could be different. First, using the left lane to go down to the parking garage took some getting used to. Also, the bedstead stood out on each corner and I barked my shin two or three times. However, our overall stay was amazing. The pub onsite was fun and Basso, the restaurant across the lot, was fantastic. Great location for access to the highway and Forest Park. Very easy to find (right behind the giant Amoco sign). Love the tie in to English authors and their books/works. Will definitely stay there next time I am in Sait Louis.

A really cool spot. The older features throughout were such a nice change from the cookie-cutter hotel. Slightly dusty, but honestly you just have that with older furnishings, so I was not bothered. Linens were clean, no bugs, and everything was tidy. The breakfast was lovely. I'm gluten free and still had a ton of options. But was admittedly jealous of the sea of pastries that looked amazing. Absolutely would recommend to anyone that appreciates a unique and quiet stay. And the staff was fantastic, very friendly and helpful.
