The view from our room was great but the room itself felt dirty, stains on the carpet, mold in the shower. The bed and pillows were hard and lumpy. The location is good for grabbing the trains to other cities, there is also a large market within a 5 min walk. 711 downstairs was convenient for late night snacks and morning coffee.

7-minute walk from the UENO stations, and lots of drinking places, but if you are with kids, the dining choices are fewer unless you walk around the area. Close to UENO park and shops. But not the best/biggest YODOBASHI or DONKI if those are your targets even though both are pretty close. AMEYOKO street is closeby, but forget about it, I would not shop on that street. Good value and big room!

This hotel has bigger single rooms in the area for similar budget. Modernized bathroom. About 190 sq ft. Big enough to walk around with suitcase opened on the floor. It has a big window to have abundant sunlight. Long rectangular shape desk. Only down side is the wifi. It's slow and unstable. During my stay I got 6 mbps on average. On a good day (guess it was when other guests checked out?) I got 48 mbps for few hours in the morning.

Pro: The hotel is only a few blocks from Ueno station and the JR line. There are many choices of convenience stores, traditional Japanese restaurants, and retail stores for shopping. The hotel starts on the 20th floor, and the view from the room is priceless with the amazing view of Ueno. Very quiet during the night. Con: When I checked in, the receptionist charged the wrong amount. The following day, at 7 a.m., another receptionist called and requested that the issue be solved immediately. They could not just wait until I woke up to fix their problems. Overall, the corridor was dark, with outdated carpet, and the inside of the room’s carpet was in the same condition. The amenities towels were very old, and the air filter had to be cleaned regularly because the room’s air quality wasn’t optimal.
