This place is in a great location. It was easy to find and the host was kind enough to let us check in early, after traveling all night, since it wasn't reserved. It is a basement apartment and there is no air conditioning, which is pretty common in Europe, so it wasn't the end of the world, and it was unseasonably hot. One of the amenities listed, a gym, we received no information on where it was and reached out to the host to ask and got no response.
Now for the but. I reached out to the host on Saturday because we were coming from overseas and had not received any information regarding our stay on Monday. The response indicated that we needed to pay a €250 deposit, that had not been communicated prior, when we had booked the property months ago. I reluctantly paid the deposit and was assured that it was a hold and would be released once we checked out. Upon check out, I messaged the host to let them know we had checked out, and the keys have been returned to the lock box and to inquire as to when our hold would be released. The following day I checked my credit card to find that my hold had actually been charged to my account, I reached out to the host again as well as Vrbo, who reached out to the host and still got no response. I ended up having to dispute the charges with my credit card company after four days of no response.
Just to be clear, we only stayed at this property for one night, We are three adult women and the place was left just like it was found.
