The stay should be 5 stars if it was not because of the staff at the dining room there. She was always in a rush for no reason, did not show any interests in explaining the food for you and the worse part was when you asked her questions, she would turn her back and walked away from you while answering your questions— no interest in any interaction or conversation with the customers at all. The other staff, on the other hand, were really nice and helpful.
The place was great. The room was massive and was a good size for a family of 4. Although the hotel itself is more out of the way compared to a few others that are right near the other 7 onsens it makes up for it with the great service, free shuttle and their own lovely onsen.
Although we got there earlier than our check in time and before they provided the shuttle into the main part they still offered us a lift to the ropeway which was helpful on a hot day.
Their own onsen also had an outdoor bath and a cold one as well which was great.
They had people that could speak mandarin and Cantonese which was useful for my parents. Everyone always had a smile on their face.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
This is what we expected for the onsen report hotel. Clean and nice, Great service, Shuttle bus to get to the Kinosaki onsen street. I can say it’s perfect to enjoy the traditional onsen place.
Everything was excellent! The town was very cute and clean. All staff and people in the town were very welcoming and friendly. The womens bath wasn’t busy and we had it to ourselves! Meals were excellent, we were all very full afterwards. PS, sorry for underwear man!

This hotel and the staff is amazing. So helpful, clean, accommodating, and polite. I can definitely see why it was sold out for most nights. Rooms are very clean w/ private full bath. The location is very convenient. When looking at the map it may seem like it’s off to the side, but literally everything is within a 10 minute walk even the beach is close. It’s safe and family oriented.
The hotel is nicely updated including a nice large Koi pond in the center and the public baths are nice.
Lastly, reserve the breakfast it’s an experience and you actually feel full after eating.. I extended from one night to two.. Definitely recommend. Enjoy
Pickup service at train station. Early check in and service is excellent. However the breakfast set is mostly pickled vegetables which is not worth the price. When I asked for coffee while in the dining room, I was asked to go to the coffee machine. After breakfast, I went to pick up a coffee at lobby. However I saw the same service staff was at the coffee machine to take coffee. Is this because I can drink tea, I have to go to take coffee myself and coffee is only served to westerners by service staff ???
Our stay provided us with a very authentic traditional experience, from the bedding to the food. The staff were very kind to alter our evening and morning meal to accommodate a no fish diet. At this time the contact with the staff is rushed due a need to keep staff safe from respiratory infections. They were all very kind and the shuttle is much appreciated.
Very nice Ryokan in Kinosaki. We opted for the "Kaiseki" food option which was part of the room rate. What we got for 4 meals (2 dinners/2 breakfasts) was unbelievable!!! Delicious and fresh.
Onsen was great, hardly anyone in it during our stay.
Staff was very attentive and ofcourse polite. Top notcn
I would highly recommend this stay in Kinosaki. I was an American female solo traveler and felt very safe and the staff was always so willing to be accommodating and helpful. I had an early flight on my way out and they started the transfer service early for me. Make sure give them a call ahead of time and they’re happy to pick you up from the station so you don’t have to walk with bags through a small construction area. I would love to come back!
Staff were smiles all the time. Food was great - both dinner and breakfast. Onsen was fine as it was not as crowded and noisy as in the other free Onsen places. Shuttle bus was ready to drive us to and from the town centre (at specific period in a day).
Highly recommended.
I wish I knew you had free access to all the other onsens in the area, I would’ve gotten to the hotel earlier. Dinner and breakfast was AMAZING and the Onsen was everything I needed!
