Lovely home, lovely location, lovely resort - so nice, I've said it thrice!
My husband, 11 year old son, and I have stayed in either Cashiers, Highlands or Sapphire Valley nearly every Thanksgiving for the past 10 years. We love hiking, tubing and skiing, and the charm of small mountain towns. This was our first stay in Tuckasegee - an ideal location to not only revisit those towns, but centrally located for easy drives to Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Bryson City, Cherokee and others. As for the resort, they've wonderful staff and plenty of activities (both on and off the lake) in a truly picturesque setting. The reserve makes everything easy - automated reminders of activites and detailed maps for all the amenities. And oooohhhhh the lake! Do take the pontoon boat trip on day 1 for the history and views. You'll definatley want to kayak afterwards for more lake time. And our rental home was perfection! Not only was it in a great location for community activities (google Mill Pond - just look at that firepit and those fishing ponds), but we were steps away from peaceful forest trails. It was beautifully furnished, with super comfy beds, and had the most stocked kitchen I've come across (we were in need of nothing but groceries, truly). The indoor and outdoor fireplaces were outstanding features. Had we gone during warmer weather, I think we would be happy living on the back porch. Pictures don't do it justice. Just go - you'll have no regrets! Owners - thank you for a perfect stay - your love of your home and hospitality shines through.

The best getaway!
We stayed here for Fall Break and absolutely loved Mark's property. It was in the perfect location, off the beaten path but the Bear Lake community offered several close to home amenities and very convenient hiking trails. The cabin was very well-appointed, comfortable and Mark's communication leading up to our stay was outstanding. We plan on coming back for future getaways!

Perfect Location!
This was our 3rd trip to BLR and this is our favorite property yet! The location is incredibly convenient.. 15 mins to the highway, 15 mins to the clubhouse, near the amphitheater lawn for our dog, and right around the corner from the beautiful Mill Pond. The home is perfectly clean and we loved spending our evenings in the screened-in porch. The owner, Mark, is also incredibly responsive and helpful. We hope to return in 2025!

Perfect mountain getaway
Mark is a wonderful host and communicated with me from booking through our stay and check out. We love Bear Lake Reserve and its amenities. We have made this trip at BLR 5 times now and stayed at this house for 3 and plan to be back again. We enjoy the house, boating on the lake, hiking at nearby trails and on the property. Great family time.

A wonderful mountain stay
House very clean, spacious, well stocked, lots of room, huge bedrooms ( favorite was screened in porch where we spent alot of family private time.) The kitchen had every appliance you could think of. Pots /pans in great shape. I liked the location of house. Its takes a 20 min curvy drive to the Lake club but you are in the mountains. The resort is great: pool, hot tubs, steam room swim lake or pool with nice beach, boating available, many fee-programs each day. Our section developed a water leak but resort and Mark took great care of us during issue with supplying water for drinking and necessities ( we used the Lake Club for showers but we were swimming there anyway. ). I would definity stay at Marks again . He is a gterrific host and attentive. He and his neighbors looked out for us making sure things were going well . And Mark compensated us for the water issue but it wasnt his fault but was due to community's old well piping that sprung leak which they worked hard to get water running again. Everything was great. There are deer and bears ( hence resort named Bear Lake) but had no issues. Resort was well maintained and employees wete very nice. Restaurant was good but expensive. Mark compensated us for the inconvience of water issues which he didnt have to for it wasnt his fault. A great location to plant your feet and use the facility, see the numerous waterfalls and trails, or visit small towns or go gemming. Very relaxing hearing the mountain stream close by.

Great Property + Convenient to the Local Area
Great property and an awesome resort. We loved our trip! The house is very comfortable and clean. The kitchen is well stocked for the chef in your group. The property is near the front of the resort which is convenient if you have people coming and going, but less convenient if you are focused on the resort amenities of the lake and golf course which is a 15-20 minute drive down a windy road. It's a beautiful drive, but it does take time.

Beautiful, peaceful, secluded mountain getaway for the whole family
Our family of five including two teenagers and our dog enjoyed a very peaceful, fun filled week at this lovely property in Bear Lake Reserve. The booking process and communicating with the owner was super easy. The house is lovely and well appointed, spotlessly clean upon our arrival and well stocked for everything we needed. The beds were all very comfortable & no complaints about the WiFi speed from our teens. We got essentially zero cell phone service but with WiFi calling -- both in the house and at the Lake Club -- it wasn't a problem. The stocked fishing pond is literally across the street (you can say "dinner is ready" from the front door and your teen's will hear you...) and through a short path is the amphitheater with the disc golf course and popular for playing fetch. The Lake Club was about a 15 minute drive, albeit a very windy mountain road. Once there, there is literally something for everyone -- beach, pool, gym, games, restaurants. We had brought our own SUPs and were able to rent (just $30) a spot to leave them at the lake club -- avoiding putting them on the roof every day. Please do heed the owner's advice to stop in town before heading into the Condo as it is a solid 30 minutes drive to the nearest full grocery store. And you will want to print out directions, because you will lose cell service in the mtns. We arrived after dark which made driving more difficult but the directions are good. Much easier with daylight...

Mountain Bliss
What a dream! The house was PERFECT! The location is a bit remote, but it has everything you'll need right outside the front door. The gated community is safe and pristine. The hiking trails in the neighborhood are literally right next door. The area isn't crowded at all, so it feels like you have a whole mountainside to yourself. However, the front gatehouse is less than a 3 min walk and has all of the essentials... Milk, coffee, toilet paper, etc. Although, the house is fully stocked, so we didn't even have to go there. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a Thanksgiving dinner! Pots, pans, spices... It had it all! And the lodge is amazing with a fantastic restaurant if you want to have a date night or take a break from cooking. Mark is attentive and responded quickly to all of my questions. He also provides a great book of attractions and guides to the surrounding areas to ensure a great holiday. My family and I truly will remember this trip forever! Thanks so much, Mark, for sharing your home with us!
