About this property

Live like a knight and a noble lady in a medieval home

Make your childhood dreams come true!
Live like a knight and a damsel, sleep in four-poster beds, live in an old half-timbered house below the ruins of the Ulmen Castle. Only 300m walk from the lake and the town center, in a very quiet area.
There are costumes for children so that they can really feel like a princess and a knight.
The Nürburgring and the Moselle are only 20 minutes away by car.
The house was originally a horse changing station and inn and the walls of the castle are directly above.
It has already experienced the Thirty Years' War, the invasion of the Sun King's musketeers and Napoleon's revolutionary troops.
It is now waiting for families to revitalize it, to feel at home here and the two chimney figures Kunigunde and Adalbert watch over your sleep together with the knights Horst and Baldwin.

Ulmen was voted one of the top 100 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2022 because of its uniqueness. Since 2023 it has been possible to walk from one volcano (the Ulmener Maar) through the volcano (Maarstollen) to the second volcano (Jungferweiher).
There you can observe very unusual birds, insects, frogs, toads and sometimes even lizards or a grass snake.

Right outside the front door, Germany's most beautiful hiking trail leads along to the valley of the Wilden Endert - a very unusual hiking route and halfway there is an intact and managed mill (closed on Thursdays) of what used to be 28 mills.
Discover rustic rock formations, rushing water and sometimes a brown trout. The path leads to Cochem, the pearl of the Moselle.

On the Alter Postplatz you will find a restaurant, around the corner the best pizzeria in Germany, an ice cream parlour, a bakery that does not belong to a chain, a pharmacy and a pub that is second to none in Germany. The landlord offers an excellent red wine - or of course the world-famous Bitburger beer.

A legend is of course the Nüburgring. A quarter of a million visitors came to the 24-hour race in 2023 alone.

The Dauner Maar are only 15 minutes by car from Ulmen.
And many other sights such as Eltz Castle, Bürresheim Castle (did you know that Indiana Jones was filmed there?) and much much more can be found within a 30-minute radius.

Create unforgettably beautiful memories that will bring a smile to your face for a long time!
During your stay at this castle, you're just a quick walk from Ulmener Maar Tunnel.
  • On-site recreation includes a sauna
  • Just a 1-minute drive from Ulmener Maar Tunnel and 10 minutes from Daun Maar Group
As a guest of Live like a knight and a noble lady in a medieval home, you'll find a sauna and barbecue grills. The front desk is open around the clock.

This Ulmen castle is smoke free.

It really was Charming!
This place was a wonderful home base for our trip to Germany! The rooms were very large and the furniture comfortable. The kitchen had a big fridge-freezer & all kinds up extra electronics like an egg cooker, water kettle, coffee machine, even a dish washer. The owners Sandra and Andreas were very helpful with any request we had and provided a welcome basket with fresh German beer from the region & a personalized bottle opener. They also had a big book with instructions on how things in the VRBO worked. I really loved our stay and would definitely come again. If there was one thing i was surprised about, it was the number of stairs, but that's the only negative.
