Enchanted Vacation Rentals Ojai -
Johnny Cash’s Historic Ojai Valley Sanctuary...
California's Graceland
A piece of country music history
He bought the land in 1960 and built his dream house to his exact specifications, walking the rooms and deciding on exact placement and layout. This famous house sits behind two security gates on six very private acres of land between Ventura and Ojai, the ranch-style home is set among 100- year-old oak trees as well as huge cypress and walnut trees Johnny planted. The most breathtaking feature of the property is the 360-degree view that goes as far as the eyes can see.
The estate is 5,000 square feet, it was the singer’s “beloved escape sanctuary” high above the tiny town, of Casitas Springs, just minutes from Ojai and away from the hustle of Hollywood. The Cash house and stories about Johnny are folklore among Ojai locals. Ojai is proud to claim him as part of the rich history of this town. A dedicated billboard honoring him stands on the bend as you come into town.
John’s ideas are still very much a part of the home, including the country-motif family room with curved brick fireplace, exposed wood beams, glamorous gold glitter game room, custom ranch-style wood cabinetry, original wall-mounted turntable, and intercom system. We describe it as Mid-Century Western Glam
There are two large primary suites. The “JC-BLACK Suite” features a stunning expansive scenic view from its bay windows, a black sparkle ceiling, drop-in black bathtub, and a black commode. Vivian’s Hollywood-style room is the “V-PINK-Suite” finished in glamorous layers of pink and a gold glitter ceiling. On the opposite side of the house is the timelessly preserved famous wood-paneled music studio where Johnny sequestered himself to write many of his hit songs.
This iconic California ranch property was designed by Johnny Cash. The house was
custom-built by the Man in Black and is now available to host a few lucky Cash fans.
The celebrated property has been carefully maintained. Walk into the restored time
capsule that pays tribute to the legendary musician.
The outside of the ranch house features breathtaking 360-degree views, a pool, hot tub, Western Poolside Bar, 2-BBQ areas the JC BBQ which is a notable area tucked high away and sits overlooking the entire valley below with captivating views. This was one of Johnny’s favorite hangouts where he was known to grill a mean hot dog and shoot his guns. He taught his daughters to target practice from this very spot!
We look forward to the creative prosses of this very special home !
