We stayed here for one ,it was a very adequate hotel ,the staff were lovely ,the food was reasonably priced BUT our room was so noisey it felt as though we were sleeping on the middle of a motorway .We have come to the conclusion that if you book at the last minute ,or a basic room you may end up with a room like we had

Value for money
Good hotel, seervice and location, value for money!
Quaint but excellent room. Lovely grounds and very nice dining facilities. Food and wine were excellent examples of Tuscan cuisine and aerie in the restaurant was enjoyable.
Only downside was the morning buffet. The food choices were good, but egg dishes were unheated so 'cold'. The break fast room attendant was not very efficient and supplies of cutlery, milk etc had to be requested.
That being said, we loved our stay at the hotel and the area.
Nice family pension. Great breakfast. Nice outside area. Great price. Good restaurant. Honest people.

Night stop in Toscana
we staid in this hotel as a night stop on the way to Volterra. The location is very convenient with a large free parking. There is a nice and well kept garden. Room was clean and large. Air conditioning did not work well. Breakfast was reasonable. Be aware in the area there is nearly no field for mobile phones, but the wireless works fine and it is for free.
We ended our 2 week trip to Italy here, just before flying out of Pisa. It is a family-run hotel with a great restaurant. The hotel is basic, but clean and maintained well. The restaurant is a wonderful find, run with pride by the family with an extensive and creative menu. The portions are huge and the setting on the terrace lovely and comfortable. Prior reviewers have complained about internet and location, but I think the amenities are pretty clearly stated so if you book a family fun place in the country and it is further than you expect and doesn't have the amenities of a big city hotel, I find it hard to fault the hotel...As for finding the place, if you figure out what the directions mean it is pretty easy. Kilometer 6.5 on the 439 dir (not sure the correct number, but you get the idea) road that runs parallel to the main 439 (that leads into Volterra). At the intersection of the 439 dir and another road from Volterra. It is not on GPS. All in all a lovely place with great value and a restaurant a cut above most we visited--and we had great food throughout our trip.
Lovely, small Tuscan hotel with comfortable, clean rooms in a peaceful location (with gardens and restaurant). About 15mins. drive from Volterra, so a good starting point for touring the surrounding region. Great to have an excellent restaurant onsite for an evening meal. In spite of travelling slightly 'out of season', staff were friendly and helpful. Just a shame the weather wasn't so obliging! Would like to go back at a different time of year when there's a chance of more sunshine!!
The hotel was very nice and had great food. Many local people came for dinner as well, which is always a good sign. The only thing that my husband had a problemwth was that the room and bathroom was a bit small, but that is typical for Italy. They were totally booked and if we would have stayed longer we could have gotten a bigger room. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was very nice; with excellent food in the restaurant. It's 10 K's out of town, on winding roads so it's not terribly convenient to Volterra. The room was comfortable and clean.
Like most of the other reviews we though this hotel was exceptional. We couldn't have asked for nicer staff (or owner) or better food. Our only complaint was the AC was anemic , which wouldn't have been an I issue if this hadn't been a really hot June.
The room was good and well maintained. Very difficult to find, even with GPS. Overall, the hotel staff are either too few or have too many responsibilities - the front desk was not staffed at any point during our stay except when I rang for someone. Phone service was impossible - I tried six times during the evening, night and early AM to get a line but could not. When I called someone to the front desk to ask for help she slammed the desk phone on the counter, told me to 'Try this then' and walked away. That phone did not provide me with a connection either. Based on that service, I would not recommend this hotel.
First class and the restaurant food is divine people come from all over to taste fantastic food they do a special dish each night and although we only stayed one night we kept on returning for the excellent food
