Pooch Friendly!!!
Ma's Place was exactly perfect for us. Very dog friendly for all three of our little pooches. We all enjoyed our stay and slept comfortably for two nites. The apartment was neat as a pin and spic and span clean.

Just perfect!
Communication with owner was superb. Very accomodating since we had to adjust our arrival 2x. Location was excellent. Internet service was a little lacking. Would highly recommend!

Quaint
Well kept. You can tell the owner is passionate about this rental. We loved the personal touches, such as dog toys for furry friends. A few things to consider about this property... It is located off a VERY busy highway. The noise isn't bad, but semi-trucks screaming past the house give it Pet Cemetery vibes. I wouldn't let my dog, or child, play out front. As mentioned in previous reviews, the curtains are minimal. There are uncovered windows in both the kitchen and bedroom. So, plan ahead for light, or privacy. The a/c unit in the bedroom is super loud and turns on frequently. I would suggest bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Yes, the air fresheners are strong. No, there's no way around it. Finally, there are neighbors in the adjoining apartment. They smoke and it's a shared front sidewalk, so you'll be seeing them. I would recommend bringing something to cover the kitchen window, or they'll be seeing you, too. ;-) Also, as far as we could tell, there was no "coin wash," available. This was the only major letdown, as we planned to do laundry at this stop. All things considered; we had a very lovely stay. We enjoyed the location and would return.

Better than a hotel
This was a great home base with our dog. We were able to go for runs and walks, and easily drove to our various functions. It is a historic farmhouse, so expect minor oddities in the layout.

functional/clean
We stayed here while our floors were getting refinished. It was close enough to our home, was clean, and reasonably priced. The couch in living area pulled out into a futon, which our son slept on. It's also a pet friendly property which we appreciated. I only have a few suggestions. The wall plug in scents were so overpowering. If it's trying to cover something, I would try to eliminte whatever the odor is instead of covering it with the plug ins. There was only one thin blanket in the master bedroom and a think blanket for the futon. We were a bit chilly and could have used more blankets. A couple dish towels would also be useful. The kitchen was well equipped though. The property is very close to gurnee mills, etc., but it is out in the country.

Nice Place
Was about what one might expect from an addition on a farm house... The place is cooled by two in room air conditioners that are barely loud enough to drown out traffic from the nearby road. That might sound like a negative, but the pros of the location far outweigh the cons: it's close to a major road and several local hole-in-the-wall places; I drive a Tesla and there was a supercharger in any direction I wanted to go; there's an abundance of local parks, beaches, trails, shops, restaurants, etc... just a short drive away. Cons to the stay: a startling lack of heavy curtains on the windows to the bedroom. The thin, gauzy drapes provided made me feel like someone driving by could get an eyeful of me and my girlfriend from the road. The water pressure was somewhat lacking; very few towels, hand towels, and washcloths. Pros: Full kitchen, coffee pot, good internet. Was able to cook for myself and telework.

Clean, but smell was a problem
This place was very clean. As soon as we walked in, I liked how it looked. However, we were greeted with very heavy air freshener smells. We’re sensitive to artificial scents, so the first thing we did was unplug all of the wall air fresheners and turn off the one on top of the fridge that sprayed every few minutes. About 3 days into our trip, we realized that that was a mistake. There are people who rent the other side of the house and the smell of weed and cigarette smoke took over our bathroom and kitchen for most of the stay. Then the smell turned into a stench. Even after going around and plugging all of the air fresheners back in to the walls and turning the one on top of the fridge back on, they couldn’t keep up. It just smelled horrible for the rest of the trip. Luckily, the bedroom didn’t ever get any of the terrible smells in it. It must’ve been far enough away from where the neighbors were smoking to be affected. It was almost 100° outside for several days of our trip and the mobile a/c unit in the living room was not able to keep up, so the apartment was too warm for our liking. The one in the bedroom worked really well to keep the bedroom cool, so we were able to sleep well. The bed is very firm, so if you don’t like firm beds, I’d suggest not booking this place. I woke up in pain every morning from the bed, but my husband had no problems with it. It also would’ve been nice if there had been blinds in the dining room and the bedroom above the bed. There were some curtains on the bigger window in the bedroom. It was a little scary at night knowing that people could see right into the apartment. The double ovens were amazing and very clean. Everything was very clean. I definitely would’ve stayed here again had it not smelled so bad. It was clear that the host really cares about cleanliness; it’s unfortunate that the neighbors affected how this apartment smells.

Very nice
The unit is older but clean amd well stocked with anything that you may need. The location is great if you are shopping at gurnee mills or are going to Great America. The owners were very kind and have put a lot of work into the place to make it feel like a home away from home. Our family would definitely return. Thanks Ma!
