Charming City Centered ~ Walk to Zoo!

Summary:
Look no further for the perfect home base from which to explore DC! Just like Alice, from behind the secret-like entrance lies a lovely, surprising space - tucked away in the midst of DC`s activity. A parking pass is available and must be requested in advance, simply sign up, request, and print (BEFORE you travel)!

The Space:
Our lovely bright English basement apartment can comfortably sleep four guests in the following configuration:
- a queen bed in the Main Room
and a queen sized sofa bed in the living room

The home is complete with a full kitchen for those hoping to cook, although with the plethora of neighboring restaurants, that notion may become a thing of the past!

Surprising amounts of natural light contribute to the cozy but modern feel. With mid-century modern accents, and meticulous anticipation of guests needs, any traveler will feel at home here, and truly experience living like a local.

Easy proximity to public transportation, and the iconic, Historic Adam’s Morgan neighborhood!

~ While we can’t guarantee parking, some guests have had luck getting temporary permits from neighboring police stations. Guests would need to bring their trip itinerary with their full name, dates of stay, and street address of the residence.
This is at the discretion of the police stations however, and cannot be guaranteed.
We also provide excellent resources and coupon codes for finding nearby garages at the cheapest rates.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire apartment. It is not shared.

There is a family living upstairs. Please note that the everyday sounds and noises of family life (footsteps, stairs, kids playing, etc.) can be heard in both directions. You will undoubtedly hear them (and they will hear you) as they go about their everyday life.

The Neighborhood:
Adam’s Morgan is a hub of activity! No shortage of restaurants and bars down 18th St, and just parallel lies Columbia Rd, for a slower paced night out with can’t miss designer restaurants!

Modern trends and styles flow through the historic row homes and streets, creating an atmosphere that can’t be beat!

Getting Around:
The location is amazing! Walking distance from the Zoo, Adam`s Morgan neighborhood and metro as well various buses to quickly take you to all the major sights. Capital Bikeshare`s surround the area as well, so for those inclined, its a great way to borrow a bike and explore the area!

Other Things to Note:
The entrance to the apartment is very narrow. Most suitcases should be fine however guests should be mindful of that fact.

We want you to make the most of your stay, so we've partnered with DC’s city tour company See DC Today to help ensure an amazing visit, at the best rate possible! Sit back and relax as the finest, most highly-trained and knowledgeable guides take you through the city, to soak up the surrounding history.
Feel free to give us a call to find out about the discounted rates we have secured for Home Sweet City's guests.

Pleasant visit
So many thoughtful provisions were everywhere in our "home." Great location in a neighborhood, not like a hotel.

Perfect for DC vacation
This was a great location for a week in DC. The apartment was clean, everything worked, and it looked like the photos. There were two sets of towels and a washer and dryer. The bath products were great! We slept very soundly on the comfortable bed after days of walking the city. There were pots and pans in the kitchen, a full set of silverware, and a dishwasher (with detergent). The neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe. All in all, we were very happy to stay here and would use the location again. One note: The entrance is a tight fit--if you are a bigger person, you might need a different place to stay.

Bright and comfortable
The unit is very quiet and comfortable and provides all that you need. The pictures in the listing are accurate which is not always the case. For a basement unit it is very bright with nice windows. Neighborhood is super convenient. The entrance is quite tight and oddly designedso if you are very tall or need a walker I do not recommend this unit. Otherwise Enjoy /we did

Delightful
"We had a wonderful stay at this basement apartment! It was spotlessly clean, and the location was incredibly convenient with the metro just a short walk away. There were plenty of dining options nearby, which made it easy to grab a bite. The bed was very comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep, and the host was absolutely delightful and responsive throughout our stay. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay!"

Cool and quiet
This apartment is welcoming, quiet, clean, and spacious. Our stay was a result of us needing to find adequate air conditioning close to our existing home in DC. Not only did this place provide wonderful air conditioning, but it was also a wonderful place to work comfortably as well as relax and feel like we were on a vacation just a few short streets away. We enjoyed walks at night exploring the winding streets and character filled architecture of the surrounding neighborhood.

Long weekend in Adams Morgan
The place is very clean and quiet. The bed is comfortable and plenty of space for the 2 of us. Location is great! You are in a quiet neighborhood just a short few blocks yo all the action. Loved being able to walk down 18th through Adams Morgan to Dupont Circle. Lots of great bars and restaurants to choose from. Very convenient to coffee shops or grocery stores. Our favorites were Solluna for coffee, The Greenzone for the best hummus and green cocktails. Astoria and Agora were both great food! My husband loved running in rock creek and through the zoo every morning. Perfect location and safe area.

Nice apartment in a residential neighborhood
We live nearby and were looking for a place to stay while we were having work done on our condominium. This fit the bill nicely. It was comfortable and the kitchen was nicely appointed so that we could cook. It was fun to explore a slightly different neighborhood and find some new places. Check in was easy and the apartment looked great when we checked in. It’s a good size for one or two people. As reported, parking can be a challenge.

Great Adams Morgan location
A great place tucked into one of the beautiful, historic townhouses in a quiet neighborhood. Walk to live jazz at the Green Island or spend a day at the nearby zoo. We strolled all the way to the mall to see the cherry blossoms and some monuments - this is a little bit of a walk, but not unpleasant if you don't mind the distance. Parking is difficult. If you're driving to town or renting a car, the property managers make it easy to get a permit for on-street parting in the neighborhood, but even then we had to get really lucky to park on the block; usually we'd circle outward and find a parking spot within a five-minute walk. Not a big deal at all, and to be expected in a dense neighborhood, but thought it worth mentioning. As someone who has lived in neighboring Northern Virginia, I was happy to stay in D.C. and the proximity of this home to the places we wanted to spend time was perfect. Needless to say it was clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. I'd stay here again without hesitation.

New favorite property in my favorite DC neighborhood!
This Lanier Heights property is everything a business traveler can hope for: clean, quiet, and convenient to everything you need. Some of the features that I found to be above and beyond included the dimmable lights in every room (I hate glaring overheard lights!), interesting decor, a well appointed kitchen (thank you for decent wine glasses), and a full size private laundry! This will definitely be a first choice for my regular DC trips whenever it is availabile.

Great neighborhood - quiet, clean and comfortable.
We had a very pleasant stay at this property. All was as pictured/described and we were very comfortable. The property was quiet and the neighborhood is charming and feels quite safe. The grocery store is only two blocks away, so quite convenient. We did have a problem with the washing machine not working. The staff paid for our laundry to be done mid-week, however the lack of a machine did put a slight crimp in our plans as we had packed lightly, expecting to do laundry there. The staff was trying hard to get the machine repaired, hopefully it is done now. My only recommendation would be to provide pot holders for those wishing to cook - we used the kitchen towels but real pot holders would be easier.
