While this hotel has a strong reputation, my experience fell short. The elevator was out of order for two of my four-day stay, which was inconvenient. My room also had recurring issues: no cold water on the first day, intermittent hot water, and a non-functioning telephone initially, which made reaching staff difficult. On top of that, the bathroom amenities were disappointing. The towels were rough, and the toilet paper was exceptionally flimsy—far below the quality I’d expect from a five-star hotel. These details added up, making my stay far less comfortable than anticipated.

Upon checking in, we received a less than warm welcome from the front desk staff (a tall brunette with an accent). She appeared as if she didn’t want to be there, did not smile at all when greeting us, and gave off a snobbish attitude while very matter-of-factly reciting the specifics of our stay as though we worked for her. Nonetheless, that unpleasant experience was outshined by Garnett’s (the doorman) five-star customer service-he took our bags without us having to ask and offered us two glasses of champagne which he promptly brought to the front desk with a smile (perhaps he should work the front desk). He also brought our bags up to the room, placed our belongings where we wanted, and offered to give us several locations to visit around town. The bathroom was small as many others have mentioned, but fit the amazing decor of this hotel which is brimming with character and has amazing original detail in the architecture. Everything being within walking distance is a plus. The room would have been perfectly clean had there not been an unknown liquid splashed across the wall that had stained the baseboards and carpet. This would have been a five-star experience had the front desk and cleanliness of the room met those standards.

I loved the building and interior decor. Service was friendly and professional. All staff were the same, friendly and well trained. Location is great. My only complaint is that certain food and drink items were overpriced. But I would definitely stay at the Riggs again.

water was way too hot, & difficult to adjust. shower door was hung wonky, so water rained through the separation, putting lots of water on the bathroom floor. I'm used to 2 sheets on a bed, not just 1. does that duvet get washed every client change? I normally only cover up with a sheet; a heavier cover is too much. overall was a nice place & close to metro, which was one reason we chose it.

The room was cramped and dark. The bathroom was extremely tight, making it uncomfortable. There was very limited furniture making guests have to 'live out of their suitcase' basically. On a positive note, the bar and cafe were extremely nice. All the staff throughout the hotel were extremely pleasant and very helpful.

Visit The Riggs
The Riggs Hotel was located in a very convenient area within walking distance of the Mall, museums, shops and more. They had some bikes we enjoyed borrowing to ride around the area. All was lovely with the exception that the shower was very hot and not easily cooled and the electricity shorted in our room, but was quickly fixed, making it a brief and odd occurrence. Every staff member was very friendly and we were glad to have stayed at this charming hotel.
