Conveniently located to Metro. Vibrant neighborhood with plenty of dining and grocery options. Apartment worked well for our needs- a place to sleep, shower and eat breakfast before a day of touring.

Convenient to metro, includes parking, good place to crash
Kent was very communicative and accommodating. The place is convenient to the U station on the red line. For a family of 6, it was a real squeeze. Great for a low-frills crash after a long day touring.

Lively Neighborhood
We really enjoyed our stay. Check in was a breeze and it was nice and clean. Kent responded super quickly and made sure to touch base from time to time to make sure things were going smooth. The neighborhood has a lot going on. Great people watching. We tried several cool food stops including the famous Ben's Chili Bowl and Dukem Ethiopan Restaurant. Both pretty good. There were many others that we wanted to try but didn't get around to. My kids stayed in the front room with the couch, TV and the bed so they could hook up their xbox. They kept saying how much they loved the room and the place. A nice display of games and books that the kids and I took advantage of. My boyfriend and I had the back room which was no frills but we didn't need much. The beds in both rooms were very comfortable. The kitchen came in handy throughout our trip. We were able to make ramen and grab some items for breakfast and snacks to keep in the fridge. Thankfully we were able to get parking on our street the first night. We took the train to the monuments at night and a Lyft back the fist night. The next 2 days we just drove down, parking was easy to find by the museums and reasonable. We would definitely stay at Kent's again.

convenient location and attentive host!
My partner and I stayed here with friends while visiting DC for the weekend. The location is very convenient, only a few blocks of the metro station and within walking distance of many restaurants, bars and coffee shops. It took us around 30-40 minutes to walk to the White House. Kent was an attentive and conscientious host, giving us detailed check in /check out instructions, making sure we had hand soap when we were running low and letting us know quickly when the wifi network changed. The beds were both super comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. Light sleepers might take note--there was some noise on the street (people riding around on dirt bikes, followed by a car chase?) on Saturday night that our friends heard in the front room, but we were totally undisturbed in the back room. Overall it was a great stay though and Kent was a very nice host!

Kent is great; easy to contact & very helpful
We had some "cleanliness" problems on checking in, but when Kent found out, he was so nice about it. He has a cleaner who just hadn't done a good job, I guess. And we appreciated other things, like getting us a parking pass. It turned out to be a very strange coupla days in DC, to say the least. :( But we will be coming back, hopefully when the museums are opened again! So we'll be contacting Kent again. DC is a beautiful city.

Week-long visit of historical sites & museums
It was so much nicer than staying in a hotel. More room, privacy and a washer/dryer was very nice to have. I’m picky about my bed, and it was very comfortable. Limited kitchen, but all we wanted was a coffee pot, microwave and refrigerator so it was perfect for us. Great location with easy metro access, and walking distance from about everything of interest. Kent checked on us via email several times, but we had everything we needed. Check in was easy.

Great little place close to metro
We visited DC with 3 children and stayed at this property. It is an extremely good location, a few blocks from multiple grocery stores, restaurants, and about a 2 minute walk to the metro. We were able to avoid renting a car which was great. It’s much larger than a hotel room, which is difficult to find for 5 people. This was our second visit to DC and it made a huge difference to have the space and location compared to when we stayed in a hotel. You cannot beat the price for this space in such a good location. Also, the owner was extremely responsive to any/all requests, calling or texting in a very timely manner. It was awesome to have access to our own washer and dryer. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants more than one bedroom (for privacy/quiet time after a long day with children). We would definitely stay there again.

The property was great! It's an older house (english basement), so a little quirky, but Kent made sure we were aware of all of that before we booked it. The location was perfect, easy to get where ever we wanted to. Kent was absolutely fantastic in all of our dealings! Highly recommend this property and Kent!

Affordable and convenient to the metro and restaurants
My family and I stayed for a week with our two teenagers and had a great experience. The location is within a block and a half of the metro, no matter your food preference you are within walking distance of a restaurant, bar or brew pub. They are also drug stores, Trader Joe’s and other small grocery stores. While the overall neighborhood is very lively with nighttime activity the street where the property is located is very quiet. It was lovely having the front window open at night. Kent the owner was very attentive to responding to any questions we had and he checked in with us several times to make sure that our stay was comfortable. Both beds were very comfortable, the small load washing machine and dryer were highly convenient, and there was plenty of hot water for all of us. The kitchen area has just enough room to make coffee and a light breakfast but cooking a larger meal is limited due to access to two burners and a microwave. There is a moderately sized refrigerator though. We often went to Trader Joe’s to purchase fresh fruits ,vegetables and small prepared meals/snacks which was a great cost savings and after walking around most of the day in DC it was refreshing and relaxing to come back for a snack and then head out again in the local neighborhood. Our family would definitely return for another stay. Kent is a wonderful host.

Kent was great to work with. He was able to get us a parking pass and shared helpful tips about the city. There were 4 of us in our party (2 adults and 2 kids). We had plenty of room. You are walking distance to restaurants and Trader Joes. You can easily uber, drive or take public transportation to the city. FYI each time we took an Uber it cost $10 each way. The beds were comfortable. We were able to make breakfast with the portable hot plate. I would recommend this place for others to stay and I would stay here again. He checked on us to make sure everything was going well. Thank you for a great stay!

Good Value and Great Host!
Good value property. Great location in the U Street district with lots of restaurants, bars and close to the Metro. Easy access to all the sights in DC. Kent the host was excellent and very helpful with any requests. The English Basement is in an old house so the layout is a little quirky. Beautiful bedrooms and big bathroom. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great place for our girl's trip!
We enjoyed our stay at Kent's place. Kent was quick to answer any questions and even came down to be sure we had everything we needed. He was very helpful, giving us restaurant recommendations and directions. The apartment is close to the U St. Metro station. We found several restaurants nearby. The CVS next to the metro was a convenient place for miscellaneous forgotten items.

Cozy apartment with a great location
My husband and I stayed in Kent's basement apartment over the New Year. The location couldn't be better. Very easy to take the metro to and from all the landmarks, airport, etc. The neighborhood was quiet enough, and we were able to walk everywhere with Trader Joes, Starbucks, a great pizza place, and CVS all within walking distances. As for the apartment, it was clean and the beds and linens were all very comfortable (at 32 weeks pregnant I can vouch for that). As stated in the description, the building is older. The stove/oven do not work and the kitchen is tiny (there is a burner where we could boil water and cook eggs). We wanted to cook a bit more and it made it a bit challenging, although we made a few meals work. I would say if you are looking to cook a lot this apartment may make it difficult. There isn't really a table to sit at either. There is also no cable/TV and I think in the description it says there is? Bathroom is nice and spacious although shower is also small, but water pressure is great. Overall, a few quirks and an interesting layout, but we were comfortable and pleased with our stay. Oh also--Kent was very accommodating and even went to get us a parking pass that we needed over the holiday weekend.

Great apartment, Great Location
My sister and I stayed in this lovely apartment for four days in November. It was a perfect home base for us while we explored Washington, D.C. The apartment has two rooms with a queen size bed in each. The beds and bed linens made the beds super comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet so we slept great each night. The bathroom is very large with two sinks making it easy to get ready in the morning. There is sufficient hot water and a good showerhead in the shower. We ate most meals out during our visit but we did have breakfast in the apartment. We used the coffee maker and a nice surprise was an electric kettle. We didn't do any cooking. The location of this apartment was ideal. It is possible to walk to the White House (1.4 miles) which we did in order to check out the restaurants but most of the time we walked the few short blocks to the subway. There are many good restaurants in the surrounding neighborhoods as well as a Trader Joes. We are not late night people; however, due to the time of year, we were coming home in the dark every night. We never felt unsafe walking in the neighborhood as two older women. We were able to walk or take public transportation everywhere we wanted to go. We parked our car when we arrived and didn't use again until we left. The owner (Kent), could not have been more helpful and accommodating even going to the Police Dept. the day before our arrival to get us a parking pass. He checked with us periodically to make sure things were going OK and was available to us by message or phone. Our one regret is that he was out of town during our stay and we did not get to meet him in person. This apartment is a great value for anyone visiting D.C. and I would want to stay here again the next time I visit.

Great location for my meetings on Rhode Island and the Renaissance Hotel/ Convention Center. As noted by the host, this is an older building so beware. I didn't like the two shower heads in the shower or the AC system approach.

Spacious, charming apartment - great location and value!
This was our first time trying a VRBO and we could not have gotten luckier. The bedroom and living room are large and have wonderful lighting; linens are of a very good quality; and the bathroom has a double vanity which was great. Even though we were close to U Street, we never heard any nighttime noise. Quick easy walk to the Metro. Kent was an amazing host - he provided thorough information for check-in, including specific directions from the Metro and recommendations for a couple of local night-spots worth trying. We had a few questions when we first arrived and he responded immediately. We look forward to staying here again!

Kent's Place is Amazing!!
My friend and I stayed in Kent's place for seven weeks and it was an absolute pleasure. The space was exactly as he described it. It was open, well-furnished, there was a lot of light, and it certainly didn't feel as it was a basement. The front room has three large windows with plenty of natural light and the bedroom itself has a nice window. There are two large fireplaces and shelves with plenty of books in case you want to read. The kitchen, although a bit small, has everything you need including a hot plate, stove, microwave, coffee maker, pots and pans, and cutlery. The bathroom was large and had a washer-dryer, which was incredibly helpful. Beyond the excellent space--which was clean, spacious, and nice--Kent was lovely and helpful throughout our stay. Whenever we had questions or needed anything, he immediately responded. In fact, he went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, including purchasing an additional mattress, bed frame, and dresser since we were there for seven weeks. Overall, we truly enjoyed getting to know Kent and staying at his home, and recommend it very highly!
