We arrived before 3 and were hoping to be able to park in the Rydges carpark but had to follow a very hard to see map to Stout St. We didn't like the back up parking building becsause it was very tight to negotiate the up/down ramps. We were on Level 8 of the hotel and there seemed to be noise in the level above, dragging furniture type noise.

Good hotel, affordable, easily access to the city. Lighting in room could have been better and heating was erratic. Great swimming pool and nice to have sky movies on board.

It was amazing, got told 45 minutes for our room service but it only took 20! Though the burger buns were slightly burnt it still tasted incredible. Great staff service even letting me access my car late into the night for forgotten items. Well priced for what you get, highly recommended adding on the breakfast option in your booking! WORTH IT! Will definitely stay here again.

Thank you to house keeping for keeping our room sparkly clean. I was shocked to return to my room and find that it had been cleaned and beds made. Appreciate it. Also appreciate the staff member who checked us in. Very friendly & caring. Was really easy to check in and she made us feel welcome.

Not bad, but not great
Good central location and good facilities, however the rooms looked untouched since the 1980s, and service is just OK. Bed was comfortable but could use a better pillow. TV very good with Chromecast built in, cleanliness fine. Main issue is air conditioners that look about 50 years old, and sound like a freight train when they turn on and off. A relatively easy upgrade that would make a huge difference for guests. Breakfast is good, and coffee is nice, but breakfast staff seem more focused on socializing with each other than helping customers. Getting a glass of water was very challenging. Check in process is quick, but staff don't seem very happy to see you.

Heater in the room not working, make up from a previous guest stuck to bathroom door, Housekeeping would only ever do half the job( left dirty towels, pillows on the floor, not topping up complimentary coffee), also got charged for mini bar expense despite taking nothing. Literally, my only complaint about this place is that we asked for water and never received it and then the next morning when I went to check out, I saw that they had put water on a room service bill. I was quite annoyed by that. Other than that, which was a staff issue issue, The place was great. The town itself is so much more worthwhile than I had even expected. We were just stopping in Wellington on our way down to the south island. I would highly recommend staying in Wellington a couple of days to really enjoy all it has to offer .

Would be great to have more than 2 coat hangers in the room, when requested it took 2 requests before getting them 24hours later. Sink overfow surrounded with grime. Although cooking facilities were in the room, there were no pots, pans or utensils available, also nothing to clean dishes with. Phone in the room was either not working or nobody was responding when called. Portlander, however, was great with awesome staff. Overall I'm not sure I would stay again or recommend the property to others.
