Ok not enogh options for food at property, cashless is inconvenient, room was fine, staff good & friendly, parking for disabled,£6.00 per nite should ne reduced,
Please don't let some reviews put you off booking at this hotel. We had to book here last-minute, as our guesthouse cancelled our reservation. All I can say is that it was a blessing in disguise. The staff went above and beyond to cater for me and my disabled husband. Showing us the ramping into the hotel and easy access to the lift, which was big enough for one person and the fold up wheelchair. They also allocated a room which meant we didnt have to walk far from the lift, and what a room it was. Plenty of space, very clean, great bed to sleep on and a large bathroom too plus a beautiful view of the lake. I couldnt have asked for any more and we will be back to stay again. Thank you so much for helping us and making our short trip memorable.
After booking I looked at the reviews some were bad ..but I found this hotel perfect location..staff very friendly..room was clean..plenty hot water.. breakfast great choice..£6 a day parking in the hotel was very reasonable.. railway station directly across the road and bus stop .will definitely be back next time I am in Windermere..thank you 😊
I checked out of your hotel after staying for three nights. I must say I'm extremely disappointed in the hotel.
I paid over £300 to stay for three nights. The room was in a desperate need of updating. There was plaster coming off the walls in the bathroom, the were wires coming out of the towel rail socket you could see different coloured wires.
The room was unberablely hot, we had to ask for a fan. The room has not been cleaned properly for a long time, there was dust on the skirting boards, the carpet had not been hoovered properly as the was still a sugar sachet from the previous guest under the desk.
The sockets on the main desk didn't work so had to use another socket to boil the kettle. There was no way of locking the door from inside the room.
There were marks on the paintwork in the room. There were cracks all around the ceiling and up the walls in the bedroom.
One sticker in the bathroom said the room was made daily another sticker virtually next to it said totally the opposite.
I must have had around 3 hours sleep each night due to the temperature in the room being unbearable.
I wanted to check out and find another hotel but didn't have the money to pay for another hotel. I could never stay in this hotel again.
When leaving the hotel you could see even the windows looked like they needed replacijg as they also looked to be in a poor state of repair.
This is meant to be a 3 star hotel I'd only give it a one or two at the best ☹️
We booked this last minute & were not expecting much for the price we paid however this hotel is one of the worst we have ever stayed in. Rude staff checked us in, the room itself was extremely small & dated would be an understatement. The bed was terrible, not what you want after a long day out walking - I dont think sleeping on the floor would have been much different. Will certainly not be staying here again!
Great hotel staff really friendly polite and professional food choice was great breakfast one of the best I have had

Stayed in a family room which was great. Need updating on the whole but decent room, great breakfast and perfect walking distance to Windermere and Bowness
Check in was fantastic special shout out to Adrian at checkin who made us feel welcome. He also changed the remote batteries for our room tv and arranged a table fan for us. All the staff at reception and at breakfast were polite and attentive. Discounted self parking on site for customers (register at reception and use the QR code). Ours was an decent sized bright en suite room with high ceilings and a lake view (distant). Decor was a bit dated but its the oldest hotel in the area with a blue plaque and amenities are modern i.e. Lift, towels, toiletries, full length mirror, tv, hair dryer, kettle tea coffee sugar milk in room, 2 arm chairs and a chair plus side table in room. Free hot buffet breakfast. Good location near station but a bit further from Ambleside or the main lake Bowness where all the tours or bus routes commence (its hilly with steep inclines walking down is ok but I dont recommend walking up). Luckily the bus and rail station is next door if you dont have a car. There is a pub & restaurant next door, tourist info center is opposite, and few good restaurants and high street shops within a 5 min walk downhill on the way to Boots or Sainsburys. What needs improvement is (1) there is no water dispenser in the lobby/reception. (2) creaky floor boards (3) no aircon. This hotel would be ideal for anyone with mobility issues and looking to stay in and not got on excursions or trek and just looking for a relaxing break with lake views.
Definitely one of the worse hotels I have stayed. Staff are miserable, definitely do not expect a warm welcome. Rooms dated, beds uncomfortable. Nothing going on at hotel, they have a bar next door where you can get evening meals but there is zero atmosphere here.

Lovely views, large room. A little farther from the main lake than we anticipated.
