Oceanfront Cottage - Steps from Short Sands Beach!

Welcome to 25 Ocean Ave Extension! Located between the beaches, this charming rental provides a rare opportunity for the perfect vacation in Maine. Modern amenities make for a relaxed and comfortable week (or two!) at the seacoast, in a small beach town with an atmosphere reminiscent of the way life used to be or, as we say in Maine, "the way life should be". This cottage has enough space for 16 people! There is cable TV, WiFi, an outdoor grill, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need for preparing meals. 25 Ocean Ave Extension is located so close to everything you can literally park the car and leave it for the week while you enjoy walking to two beaches and downtown York Beach. If you are familiar with the Short Sands area, you know there is plenty for everyone to do. Of course there is a sandy beach, but also a large modern playground, penny candy, casual and fine dining options and of course, ice cream shops! York Beach is unique in that it offers entertainment for the family that will remind you of yesteryear. York's Wild Kingdom is a small amusement park with a very nice zoo. We have our gazebo near the ocean where you can listen to live music many nights a week plus arcades and bowling. For those who are looking for more mature amusement, there are a few nicely appointed bars within an easy walk where you can sit outside and enjoy a refreshing adult beverage while enjoying the sights and sounds of our beachside town. If you want some day-trip excursions, there is so much to do in our area! Here are some great ideas for family fun: Whale Watching out of York Harbor or Perkins Cove, day trip to Ogunquit to enjoy that 5 mile sandy beach plus great restaurants and shopping or play at one of two public golf courses in York. York Village is robust with colonial history featuring historic museums where you can travel back in time. Perhaps you might enjoy fresh or salt water fishing. There are locals here who will offer deep water fishing or guided kayak excursions. There are tennis courts, scuba diving, paddle boarding and so much more! The Cliff House, located on Shore Road between York and Ogunquit, is a world wide destination with a dramatic $100 million renovation that was recently completed in 2016. Enjoy a relaxing spa treatment or indulge in their gourmet dining. If live theatre is something you would enjoy on your vacation...well, we have it! Check out the Ogunquit Playhouse where nationally known stars are known to perform throughout the summer. Portsmouth, NH (just over the border and about 10 minutes away) also has fine live theatre at the Music Hall. Speaking of Portsmouth, let's not forget this wonderful small city. Always known for being a unique seaside port town, a resurgence has occurred over the last decade making this city a nationally recognized destination vacation spot on its own. Fine dining, live theatre, and unbelievable shopping attracts thousands of visitors each year. We will do our absolute best to ensure you love your time here and want to come back year after year.

We had the most fantastic stay at this beautiful beach house. There was plenty of room for 11 adults. The beds were super comfy and the linens were soft and smelled fantastic. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need to make delicious family meals. Having three refrigerators was completely awesome and full-size washer. Dryer was a great amenity. The parking situation was more than adequate and the location couldn’t be beat. Plenty of room to gather, walking distance to the shops and the view of the ocean was simply bliss! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with our family !

Perfect and convenient for big family
We had a perfect time here. Best part of course being it’s a 2 minute walk to short sands beach. We had 7 children (6 and under) and 10 adults all slept comfortably. The three refrigerators was also extremely helpful for such a big family. Eating dinner with an amazing view of the ocean was wonderful. Would highly recommend!

Best Location!
We visit the Maine and New Hampshire area every year. This property was very New England with its quirky location and home layout. Great size, lots of bedrooms and beds, and a slew of bathrooms next to each other. The property was very clean with lots of white towels. There were no beach towels and the kitchen left a lot to be desired. There were 4 upgraded bathrooms which was great. The property is a stones throw from short sands and all the things that York has to offer. Overall super win! The owner Heidi is nice but not super responsive. We had a power shortage created from the washer and garbage disposal being used at the same time and the door handle on the main door kept falling off. We fixed both of these issues on our own by the time response came in. The welcome confirmation email also confirmed that there would be limited supplies for things like toilet paper. Spending over $1000 a night to worry about toilet paper is not the welcome I expected but it could be my midwestern vibes clashing with the East. Location wins the vacation and we made great memories at this roomy property that was clean and easy to access.

Fantastic Location
Fantastic location, property manager was responsive, home was exactly as described. The house had everything you could imagine and ever need. Right down to a first aid box, which came in handy when my elderly father hit his arm and reopened a recent surgical wound! The only reasOn I didn’t give it 5 stars was bc there was a very strong musty, damp,odor at the end of the house where the bedrooms are. We had to buy candles, air fresheners but nothing really helped! They have tried to address it I believe bc they have air purifiers but unfortunately it doesn’t completely solve the issue. Other than that it was fabulous!

So close to Short Sands
Overall the house worked out really well for us. We found a dirty sock in one of the beds when we first arrived, but other than that the house was clean and well kept. The location is amazing!

GREAT LOCATION AND VIEWS
We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful views from the house, there was plenty of space, where no one felt crowded, but the open living/dining room gave us time as a family to eat together while watching the tides go in/out. It had everything we needed to cook if we wanted to and was sparkling clean. We have found our new vacation place for the future! Do not hesitate to book this lovely property!

We were in town to perform a historical reenactment at Wood Island Lifesaving Station in Kittery. Your home was perfect to host our entire team, as well a a couple of extras who were at a local hotel. The house was great, well supplied, and perfect for what we needed. Family Week At York Beach
There were 14 of us most of the week we stayed here. My husband & I planned a week here for ourselves, our grown children, & our 7 grandchildren who range in age from 5 months - 16 years old. Great view and location
We had a great stay at this ocean view cottage. We easily walked to short sands beach and town everyday. The bedroom layout is a little odd but it worked out and the bathrooms are nicely updated.

Ocean Side Dream
We had an amazing week at Ocean Side Dream. There was plenty of space for three families with teens and grandparents. Having 4 bathrooms and 4 showers was great. We enjoyed the proximity to all that is York Beach: Shorts Sands, Long Sands, Nubble Light House, restaurants, and shops. We did not have to get in the car all week! We especially enjoyed our views and cocktail hour on the top deck at sunset! Thanks for opening your home to us! We hope to be back!

Short Sands retreat
16 of us stayed here and even with a small kitchen we had plenty of room and 3 refrigerators a nice plus. The open living area with large table allowed us to eat together, play games together and puzzle. 3.5 baths were an absolute must for this many people. Bedroom arrangements are interesting but we made it work. Bunk house a bit challenging for couples or light sleepers. Definitely great for teens. The deck, yard, outdoor shower and ideal location right at short sands beach hard to beat and exactly what we needed for our varied interests- fishing, swimming, walking, basketball, shopping, arcade. We had a great time rain or sun!

Twelve of us found our way to our rental for my 80th birthday. Great location. Big living room for gathering. Huge table for games and watching the beach and ocean. Ages 18-81. Easy walk to town. Watched them make taffy and played on beach and hiked around. Nice patio. Loved our stay.

I don’t even know where to begin. This property was the absolute best. My best college friends and I went up for a long weekend with all of our kids. The house was a perfect setup for all of us. The outdoor area is great and the patio setup was perfect. The location of the house was awesome for us, we were able to walk to the beach, playground, and downtown with ease. We could not say enough good things! We cannot wait to return!!

Such a wonderful gathering space for a large group! The location is great; close to amenities and overlooking the ocean. The 2nd floor deck off the master is a coveted spot. Comfortable and clean. Everything you need is there. We will be back!!

Our ladies group from church had our Maine Retreat at this beautiful place Very clean...very roomy...comfortable beds....loved the 4 bathrooms... Loved the patio....etc.... Beautiful property Thank you so much...hope to be back next year Sandy for WCC ...The only issue was the unloading area entrance. Fence and bushes were really to close for car to get in & out

This was our first time staying in York and we absolutely had a blast! The house was able to accommodate our family with great use of space. Extra bathrooms and refrigerators were a luxury for sure! The best part was the view from the decks and the location! It was a perfect walk to town!
