The hotel, food, staff and interior decor was great, however, we stayed with family and had 2 rooms on the ground floor. Our room was 108 and was fine apart from the tv being sitting too low on a cabinet to watch in bed. The bathroom extractor fan did not work but this did not spoil our stay. Room 109 where my mother stayed had an awful view of what I can only describe as old furniture, chairs bicycles and overgrown vegetation feet away from the window. This was visible due to the 6 foot fence panel being missing and looked like it had been missing for sometime. Not the view one would expect to see when traveling to the Yorkshire Dales. Just a shame I’m unable to upload a few photos showing this dumping site.

The hotel main building is beautiful decor is lovely all the staff were amazing very friendly and helpful the girls working on the desk Sunday night and Monday morning were brilliant I couldn't complain at all 2 bad points the room I was in 211 was very very tired furniture was all very worn and dated very poor.... mattress was comfy slept well ... 2nd bad point breakfast the continental breakfast was spot on no complaints but seriously give the cooked breakfast a miss sausages and bacon were horrendous hash browns looked and tasted like they were microwaved and tasteless everything was swimming in grease mushrooms were absolutely dead and tasted like rubber probably the worst cooked breakfast iv had in a hotel .... would I return I would if I was in a different room and would definitely give the cooked breakfast a miss

This little gem is just perfect distance from York centre. Uber taxi, bus and park and ride, gives easy access to everywhere. Great rooms, lovely building, great staff. Definitely will stay again

Quiet and comfortable
The room was pretty good. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. If there were any downsides, it had a Nespresso machine - which is great - but no pods. The old thermostat was dodgy, and randomly worked to heat the room up, meaning at times the room was freezing.

Old property been given a lock of paint and rebranded under the Mercure brand. Fixtures and fittings in room reminiscent of 1970s and this is not by design. Broken taps and drain cap in bath. Mouldy shower taps. Broken tiles and old hair in bathroom. We will not be staying here again and will not be staying with Mercure brand ever again.

The stay was fine. The staff were really lovely and friendly, the bar and downstairs area is really nice however the rooms are very dated and ours had a funny smell. The rooms need some attention.

Lovely Majestic welcoming hotel with very helpful, friendly staff. Wide clear corridor access to large, well thought out disability rooms. Comfortable large lounge bar area with great ambience. Dog friendly with large enclosed lawns. Easy parking. We will definitely be going here again.
