The staff were very pleasant and very friendly. The food was delicious and well presented, however there was only one menu for the 4 days of our stay so choice was a bit limited. The hotel is well located in beautiful countryside and is very convenient for a number of interesting places. Overall we thought that the hotel is in need of some serious renovation and updating. Our best and en-suite really was dated and the shower cubicle was very tight and not in very condition.

Our standard double was quite small and the bathroom definitely very bijou. It was clean but more attention to dusting would be good plus impossible to watch TV from the bed and chairs were old and uncomfortable. The bar and bar/ restaurant (cricketers) were ok and staff pleasant. Food was good and plentiful. All in all, the hotel is in dire need of an update. I would stay again as I liked the bar, food and country feel about the place.

Lovely hotel, beautiful village .
Very friendly and helpful greeting , we arrived just as the kitchen was closing , however the host very kindly took our food order and showed us to a very pleasant table before completing the check in , which after a four and a half hour drive we were extremely grateful. It certainly started our weekend perfectly and continued to enjoy our stay in as much as we booked a second night at the Worsley Arms Hotel . In summary , welcoming hosts, polite attentive staff, lovely hotel with garden, food both breakfast and evening 5* , surroundings perfect .

This was a return visit, a comfortable, quiet stay. The hotel is very quaint with traditional decor, sitting room areas and a games section. Situated in an idilic village with beautiful architecture. The breakfast was superb. We had an evening meal in the Cricketers bar, the steak and ale pie was wonderful! Highly recommend and dog friendly.

The property was a little tired. We phoned ahead to say we would be arriving approx 2200 hours. On arrival the lady was not rude but also not very welcoming. The TV in the room didn’t work. The breakfast however was lovely and the 2 young servers were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them. Overall we wouldn’t stay here again though

Food decent but expensive. Drinks expensive. Room quite small-no floor space to use suitcase stand. Bed comfortable. Lot of stairs up to the room-bit of a long pull. Decor quite shabby and in need of refreshing.

Giving the room 2 stars was generous. The room was tiny, luggage had to be kept standing up. The room was only set up for one person as only one towel and one cup. Mentioning how small the room was to the host, he replied well your luggage looks like your travelling for a week. That was none of his business. The bed looks fairly new. But the carpet looks old and unclean. The TV is set on a side table that gives no room to walk around to get to the side of the bed. It was really the worst night sleep we had whilst travelling the UK. The food was good, and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also very good.

Generally a very good hotel. Breakfast was excellent, evening meals were good and staff very friendly. The bathroom is tired and needs updating and the cleaning of the room was ok only. The beds were not properly made. Ideally located for Castle Howard and surrounding area and the village of Hoveringham is very picturesque

Had better, had worse
I thought i had booked a hotel room but it turned out to be a room in what looked to be a converted house. Big enough room but a rather firm king size mattress on top of a double divan base. Single window with a view to the shops and houses across the road. Very small TV, a reasonable size built in wardrobe, kettle, bin and bedside cabinets with a lamp on each. One of the lamps didn't work but it wasn't an issue. Good sized bathroom with bath and shower over, towels and toiletries included. Having to walk across the road to the dining room isn't a problem if the weather is fine but not so good if it's raining. The road can be quite busy at times. If you have breakfast you have to fill in a form telling the staff exactly what you want. There is limited choice though, all hot food includes eggs in one form or another. I don't eat eggs so i had to stick with cereal. I asked for warm croissants on the first morning but when they turned up they were barely warm and burnt almost black on top. The toast was also cold when that arrived. The Greek yoghurt was excellent and according to my wife the scrambled egg and single rasher of bacon was very good. Breakfast is the same every morning unless you fill in another form and you have to put everything on there including tea or coffee. Cereal and fruit juice is available on a help yourself basis.

Bitterly disappointed with the condition of the room on arrival especially as it was the end of a lovely day to celebrate a birthday. The room was freezing, radiator not working, there was an oil radiator but it was ineffective. The room was very tired & unwelcoming, dusty, old broken furniture, stained carpet, tiny tv for the size of the room. The bathroom was ancient, dead bugs all over the blind, cob webs all over the shower head, fortunately I don’t suffer with arachnophobia. The loo was dirty, stained & generally unpleasant. The staff were very nice & yes we could have complained there & then but on a Sat eve you wouldn’t get a decorator, plumber & deep clean I suspect.
