Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal is our go to resort when traveling to mexico. We have stayed at this resort since 2012. The staff is amazing and friendly. The specialty restaurants are excellent. Any problems that are experienced, if any, are corrected immediately. There are only two areas of disappointment that we have observed during our last 4 visits: 1- the entertainment has diminished and 2- The number of transportation shuttles is less and they seem to run less often. In the past, there were always nightly shows in the lobby bars at each resort during the evenings (7P-10P). Otherwise, we are extremely happy with our vacations when staying at Bahia Principe.

Decent spot but I wouldn’t return. The service was good and the food was solid, however the facilities were dated. There were leaks throughout the property (it rained a lot because of the timing of the trip) which didn’t ruin the experience but it was noticeable. I speak about the leaks because they almost ruined the trip as a part of the ceiling almost fell on my wife as we were leaving the resort to go home. The resort is LARGE and connected to other properties under the Bahía umbrella. If you want to explore, it’s cool, but you need to take a cart to the other places and waiting on the cart can be a hassle (low leverage hassle, but if you want convenience, the size of the resorts don’t make it easy to traverse). The food was good and the drinks were good. Unsure if we’d go back since we like another brand better, but the trip was what we needed so there’s were no complaints during or after the trip.

Overall satisfied with the facility and stay at the resort. Enjoyed the beaches and the al a carte restaurants. My only complaints was lack of a snack restaurant open in the evenings besides the buffet. They were all at the other Bahía resorts. Advertised 24 hour snack restaurant but not at Bahía Príncipe. After 7 the only way to get snack service was ordering from the room. The other complaint would be lack of communication about towels for the pools and beach. Only one location to pick up but not noted anywhere so wandered around looking and asking for quite some time.

The property was beautiful and clean. Service lacked, I had to request the VIP wine on the 2nd day and coffee replacement in my room every day. We were unable to get any reservations at the restaurants, disappointed in the buffets at all of the locations, mainly the food replenishments and freshness. Staff were friendly, but unable to help in most cases. I wish there was more communication on what is needed for reservations, nothing available upon check in for the full 6 days stayed. A list of the events and shows upon check in would be good, we didn’t know in advance to plan for attending. The shuttle service and staff were great for around the property, especially with it being so big. We enjoyed our time together here, and it is beautiful and clean. I guess I expected more for a 5 star resort.

This property is beautiful. We loved the layout and the village feel. But it was way too hard to eat. If you don’t make dinner reservations in advance you will be eating at a buffet or crappy snack shop for every meal. Some of the buffet food was good. But most of it was bland and under-seasoned, and not a lot of Mexican food! If the food was better we would come back.

We liked the building by the infinity pool .we did not the like buildings 5202 and the other we stayed at third was not great. lots of bugs on the first floor and the maid service was not good on the 1st floor.when we got upgraded, we did love the building by the ocean and adult only section infinity pool.The buffet was ok but they all seem to have the same almost every nite.The entertainment was ok but the singers not that great.we loved the fire show.They had great stuff for the kids even tho ours is grown.We think some of the proerty needs to be updated like the rooms close to the lobby .we did appreciate the upgrade as our experience before we arrived with the transfers and airfairs was not.Yolanda made our last 3 days there awesome and guest experience in the adult only building.Thank you for helping us,for that we reason we probably would return.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities

No dinner reservations available. I did see a lot of empty tables at the restaurant I was able to book. I believe you must be a member in orser to have a decent dinner otherwise you are basically forced to eat at the buffett. Limited transportation to the rooms. I WILL NOT VISIT THIS RESORT AGAIN

The food was good, could have had more choices, the beach was good, not the best, the staffs was very nice, all the areas was very clean, including the room well kept,definitely will come back.
