Incredibly Scenic!

Vacation in one of the most beautiful rental properties in all of the High Country. With the Cabin at Cranberry Mills, you'll bask in your own private park with 30 acres of scenic outdoorsy-ness, on private water. The property offers 2000 feet of stream frontage, with land on both sides. The gorgeous tree-lined stream includes rapids and boulders for extra character and scenic delight. Covered and open decks surround the cabin for outstanding entertaining space.

Serenity will envelope you as soon as you set foot on this property. The charming cabin is perfectly situated just above the stream, to take full advantage of the water view and sounds, from the amazing 12' covered and screened porch. The cabin has great access from both the water and the ample parking area. Enjoy main-floor living, with a well-appointed kitchen, dining, living area, two bedrooms and two baths, all on one level! No stairs to climb.

The inviting great room includes a cozy gas fireplace and a large TV, with satellite connections and free Internet wi-fi. The large kitchen comes complete with a dishwasher, toaster, microwave, coffee maker and all the dining accessories you'll want for peaceful home-cooked meals. The dining room seats four, with room for six more at the island bar. Of course, there's more dining available on the covered porch – as well as a bed for falling asleep to the gurgle of the stream passing beneath you. The cabin décor is rustic and very comfortable, with charming wood paneling, cathedral ceilings and a double vanity in one of the bathrooms.

The acreage at Cabin at Cranberry Mills includes open pastures and serene woodlands with abundant wildlife, creating the perfect fishing retreat. A stay at this unique property will give you a restful vacation you'll never forget!

Experience the High Country

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Cabin at Cranberry Mills is located in Laurel Springs, directly east of West Jefferson, and close to the New River State Park and the Stone Mountain State Park. You'll be 20 minutes from downtown West Jefferson and 45 minutes to Boone. You're also just minutes from the Thistle Meadow Winery.

In the High Country, area recreation opportunities include fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, canoeing, tubing, zip-lining, cave exploration and more, all minutes away from the Cabin at Cranberry Mills. Local outfitters will equip you with everything you need for days of fun in the water. Other nearby attractions include Grandfather Mountain, Mount Jefferson State Park, and of course, Tweetsie Railroad!

Wherever you go, gorgeous scenery awaits you at every turn. Don't forget to take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, America's most beautiful road, with some of the country's most awe-inspiring views and photo opps. You'll understand how our mountains got their name! Start the day hiking the short Cascade Falls Trail in Jeffress Park, directly off the Parkway.

In the quaint mountain town of West Jefferson you'll find restaurants and terrific shopping, including antique stores and art galleries. Sample the local crafts and harvests at the Ashe County Farmers Market or watch cheese being made at the world-famous Ashe County Cheese Factory.

There are external cameras monitoring the public areas outside of the house.

Property has gone down since last stay. Low water pressure. Washing machine needs replacing. Coffee maker need updating (old Mr. Coffee). Living room furniture very uncomfortable. Will not rent this property again. Booklet on table tells renters not to rent thru VRBO and to save fees, book directly thru them.

Great place down by the river!
We had an amazing time staying at the cabin on cranberry Mill. The place was very clean with several nice amenities. The house is quaint and my kids loved the massage chair. The property is vast and loved walking down the yard next to cranberry creek. The place is overall very relaxing. We used it as a central location to see three state parks over Labor Day weekend. I was able to fly fish up the creek one morning, which was nice as well. Would definitely come back to this location and highly recommend to others looking for a place to relax.

Awesome creek views
This creekside 2 Br 2 Ba stay was a great one. It is located right by a huge creek that spans the length of the huge property. We saw a mama deer and two babies and a rabbit on the property. The only issue we had was the steep driveway upon exiting. My FWD SUV lost a little traction on the gravel going out, but we made it. We will definitely be staying here again.

This property is gorgeous. The owners have provided everything you can think of and more!! Clean and comfortable. 2 masters with comfortable beds. Every appliance and kitchen gadget you would ever want. New gas BBQ grill. Beautiful and comfortable furniture. Breathtaking views. Impeccable grounds with fresh herbs and berries. Wouldn't change a thing! We will be back.

Absolutely Awesome !
For weeks prior to coming I stared at the pictures of this place and imagined how awesome it was going to be. It definitely delivers on satisfaction. Cabin is well appointed ! better than most I've stayed at and we rent 3 to 4 times a year. You dont lack for anything ! Not the right time of year for fishing but if it were thats an awesome location. The back porch is the best feature ! It is screened and gated and set has a bed and recliners. Nice place to curl up and listen to nature. Drove over from Clemmons so its only an hour and a half away. Most definitely coming back ! Dave and Ronda Clemmons NC

The Perfect Getaway!
This property is stunning and the house is so very comfortable. Cool nights of early fall and the creek running by the house made for a wonderful few days. Easy access to paddling on the South Fork New River and lots of great hikes in the area. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place. The house is just as described. We'll be back!

When I first searched for this vacation, I had chosen another property, but the owner did not reply before deadline, so I chose this property. I am so glad the other one did not replay because this property was GREAT. Peaceful, private and above everything else.......CLEAN. Thank you for a great stay and absolutely book again. Look no further
If you're looking for a very private, tranquil, NC mountains VRBO booking - look no further. It's a bit of a drive into West Jefferson or Sparta from the cabin - approx. 25 mins either way, but isn't that the point of a "getaway" ? Pick up some groceries and supplies on your way in because once you arrive and hear that Creek flowing just outside the cabin - you may not want to leave. The cabin is cozy with a big spacious kitchen and an amazing screened in porch that overlooks Cranberry Creek. The trout fishing on the Creek at sunrise and sunset was great even for a lifelong Coastal NC fisherman (fly fishing gear not needed - ultralight spinning with some light braid or fluoro will work fine with some 1/16 jig heads and small curly tail grubs). A big thanks to the owners for opening up their property for others to enjoy. There is a wonderful photo album in the living room that details some of their renovations and the history of the property that used to contain a turn of the century mill powered by the Creek. We're already planning our return trip! Why stay in a hotel when you can rest your head and recharge your soul in a setting like this? The Wi-Fi worked great - Dish TV service worked very well as we were able to keep up with all the results at the Olympics - there is a solid library of good books in the master bed room - the grill was clean and worked great - and we even took advantage of making homemade ice cream with the on-site ice cream maker (it really does taste better).
