My mother and I stayed here for a quick getaway without the hours-long drive "up north". It was perfect. Beautiful view over the lake, and awesome hot tub. It was too cold to make a fire or use the deck, but I can see they would be great in summer. The decor was beautiful and cohesive. Some of the other houses I looked at just felt like you would just be staying the night at someone's actual home, but this had the upscale feel of being a real destination, like a hotel room but nicer.
The kitchen is the best-stocked I have seen in VRBO locations, including a thoughtful S'mores bowl. Lots of utensils and dishes and appliances. Same with the hall closet - packed with games, puzzles, and toys.
There are windows and skylights everywhere, which just made everything seem full of light. You can't even see the highway because of the clever design of the windows (and we certainly didn't hear it). A real wood-burning fireplace upstairs (although the trek through the unshoveled yard to get the wood was a big challenge, and there was no kindling, so we used cardboard to get it going).
The beds were very comfortable, with easily accessible power strips on each nightstand, and a fan in the closet. I can see using the balcony during nicer weather! We watched the sun rise through the windows instead.
The TV was a Smart TV but required some fiddling to get the wifi working on it. The disc player was DVD, not Bluray, and did not have a remote. But when I raised this with the owner, he immediately offered to bring over BR player for us. We also ran into tech trouble trying to use the Sonos speakers.
I loved the design of the downstairs shower, with all the different shower heads (although I wish there was more water pressure to make use of them - the more heads you turn on, the weaker the stream becomes). But still a fun, unique shower experience. And the upstairs bathroom had heated floors!
We loved the hot tub. It was very simple to use, and very close to the door for that "run, run, get back inside!" phase afterward. It was 18 degrees out, and we were very comfortable in our little oasis. The water level is low enough that your head is not sticking up above the edges, so the wind is not hitting you.
It was just a very relaxing, peaceful time. It felt like we were in a snow globe that muffled the outside world, in more ways than one. Just what we were looking for.
