The manager was awesome! Made us feel welcome. Answered all our questions and was patient with us. Best value in SoCal for the views and the square footage they give you. Will definitely be returning soon.

Oceanfront Hacienda is such a hidden gem! I used to live in SC and I can honestly say this is in the top 3 best places to stay. We stayed in the Grotto for one night and it exceeded our expectations. They have done a great job of keeping the old charm of the property, it’s obvious that the owners really love it. The area is so charming and very walkable, with several dining options and a great coffee shop. The beach, SC pier, and SC train station are right across the street. Things to be aware of: 1. The parking can be tough, especially in the summer. The terrain is very hilly so be prepared to potentially have a bit of a hike to and from your car. 2. The Saturday morning we were there a trash truck was doing its rounds around 7:30am, it was obnoxiously loud. 3. If staying in the Grotto, there is another unit above you. We could hear them walking around and dragging things across the floor. So if you are a light sleeper like me then bring ear plugs. All in all the pros outweigh the cons by a long shot. If you’re looking for a quintessential CA beach vacation without breaking the bank then this is it.

Perfect, quintessential vintage beach vibe! Charming property and great location. To those who, in previous comments, complained about parking- it’s been a pain in San Clemente for as long as I can remember. If you check it out after sun down, you’ll land a great spot! We are already planning our return trip!

Historical beach home
Very nice in a historical original home. Restored nicely. The grotto room was lovely but the kitchen and bath could use a little update. Other then that it is an old Home so I don’t expect it to be super modern. Very cool old vibe. Nice and clean and comfy bed.

I would like a refund for my visit on July 7 as we were unable to sleep in the room. We arrived around 3 pm and the room was 80 degrees F. I turned on the AC and we opened the windows to get a breeze; unfortunately, there were no screens and soon bugs started flying into the room. We closed the windows and left for a few hours, returning after sunset. At our return the room was still stiflingly hot, it was still 80 degrees! The AC said it was on, but we walked the entire room and could not feel any air coming into the room. At this time we realized it would be too hot to try to sleep in the room, and we could not leave the windows open due to the bugs and also one side of the place opened directly onto the street, allowing anyone to step inside while we slept. We therefore booked a room at a nearby Holiday Inn Express which cost us over $161, but had working AC. The description of this property SHOULD include that there is no air conditioning and the windows are not screened! I booked the room last minute during a heat wave and would NEVER have submitted myself to that kind of miserable heat!

Lovely experience, and unique property that felt charming and European and we could see glimpses of the ocean from our room. For travelers who prefer sparkly clean and modern spaces, this might not be for you as it definitely is an older property and I did clean the room with my own Clorox wipes thoroughly and dusted before my friends arrived. The check-in was friendly, and we loved it and were happy with our choice!

Great location overlooking ocean and San Clamente Pier. Sombrero unit has kitchen, fireplace, and separate bedroom with two beds. Historical building with lots of character. It was perfect for our ladies getaway. We went to some great restaurants, shops, and Casa Romantica.

A lot of external stairs we weren't aware of or warned about to access the apartment. Difficult with heavy luggage. Room was very cold without the heating on. Bed was comfortable but pillows could be better. A guide to the local area would be appreciated.
