How great to discover this gem of a place. Pepper Creek cabin was just the place to spend some time away from everything. Levi was very welcoming and helpful advising us on the kayaks. It was a bit damp in there and took some time to get enough heat to dry things out. It was super rainy, and we loved hearing the rain on the roof at night. The place certainly had all the amenities as described.

Amazing
Pepper Creek Cabin was everything I'd hoped for, and more. Off the grid, no distractions from TVs, internet or text. Just pure serenity. We seen tons of starfish a few Sea Lions, caught some Rockfish off the kayak and collected some Sea glass off the beach. Water Taxi out of Millers Landing was perfect for going back and forth during different activities. Thanks Jeff and Levi!!!

Peaceful cabin getaway
We loved staying at Pepper Creek cabin. It was on the beach and right by a stream. It was lovely falling asleep to the sound of the stream at night. We went out in the kayaks with the guide, Levi. I enjoyed walking along the beach with the kids, looking at the star fish. My husband enjoyed some hiking. We would definitely stay here again.

Special and unique place
Pepper Cabin is in an amazing location and even though it rained for most of our two days, we really enjoyed the experience. It helped having two energized teenagers who were into the adventure. This is not an easy place to stay - you really need to be prepared w every food item and water you might need. The location is very humid. Almost nothing that got wet dried well. Kayaking was spectacular but the water is very cold and potentially dangerous if you fall in. So that’s not a casual activity. There is a propane heater in he cabin that worked very well as did the two burner stove.

Even better than the pictures
The original reservation was for the Wolf Ridge Cabin, but a week before our trip I hurt back and would not be able to pull myself and gear up that specific trail. And because I'm stubborn, I was not going to miss out on this trip. I contacted Jeff and inquired about switching our dates and our cabin. He had no issue and quickly had our reservation switched. We stayed for two nights in the Pepper Creek Cabin and it was better than the photos. It has had some improvements that are not shown in the listing. It has a large window that is located creek side that gives you an absolutely beautiful view overlooking the creek. Other things have been moved and changed but the window is the most notable. It rained the entire time so we stayed nestled up next to that window and enjoyed the view. The compostable toilet around back is, well, I'll say an experience that I didn't really mind. The other option was the outhouse up the stairs, which I couldn't handle very well with my back. We wanted to get away and not be bothered and that's what we got. It was fantastic.

Perfect beach setting with river too
This cabin is down near the beach, so you get the best of all water sounds - waves and the river! This is definitely the easiest cabin to reach, you don't have to go up the stairs and hike to get to it. The views are still pretty great, since you're right on the beach. All beds are loft beds, which provides a little more room, but don't sit up too fast! Our family stayed in this one and they had a great time. It was a bit of a trek up to the main lodge, but not a problem for our younger crew. This would be a good one to rent if you weren't using the main lodge and didn't want to deal with the hike.

A Rustic Alaskan Experience!
First off, we had an amazing time on the property and I do highly recommend for the more adventurous traveler. I was caught off guard by a couple things that I thought could have improved our stay had we been given a heads up. The Pepper Creek Cabin is 1 of 4 of the cabins on the property, being the closest to the beach and where the boat will drop you off. The beach is shared with the other cabins, but it's plenty big and it was fun to talk to the neighbors! If you are staying at any of the other cabins, I would highly recommend NOT brining roller bags as you will have to carry them up a giant/ steep/ slippery stair case along the mountainside. The cabins are heated by wood burning stoves which can be tedious to keep going. It also causes the upper loft to become extremely hot (and sometimes smokey) while the downstairs remained on the cooler side. It would have been nice if there were extra blankets. Temperature regulation was a constant issue for our group of 4 and I feel that if only 2 people had stayed in the cabin, it would have been much more comfortable. You bring in all your own drinking water and will wash your dishes with the water from the river that's right next to your cabin... Just keep in mind that if you pee in the outhouse behind your cabin, guess where it is flowing in to... Speaking of the outhouse- You are required to pack up and take out all of your solid waste (aka poop) and any TP used. This was very surprising and to avoid having to do this, we trekked up the steep stairs to use the out house at the top of the hill (about a 5 minute climb). It wasn't a problem for us, but just something to keep in mind if you don't want to carry your poop back on the boat with you! Levi was the property manager and was extremely helpful in helping us get our wood stove started and answering questions and was very available for any issues. Of note- the "alpine trail" could hardly be called that and I would not recommend for young children or those with fear of heights. It requires the use of ropes to pull yourself up the slippery slope and is very muddy and the trail was water covered up to my shins in some places. This could have just been from the amount of rain they had while we were there, but I would plan to get wet and muddy! We did use the kayaks while there when the sun came out for a brief moment and was awesome! Overall, highly recommend a stay here if you're up to a more "wild" experience!

Wonderful Rugged Alaska Glamping
My husband and I wanted a true Alaska getaway and this was just it! The cabin was comfortable, the manager was VERY knowledgeable and helpful, and the beach, ocean, sea kayaks, and wildlife were amazing! Even though we slept on a cozy bed at night, it was still "camping" without running water or electricity, so that was fun for us! We were also blessed with great neighbors (there are 3 other cabins here, so other people share the beach, and we loved ours!) Would highly recommend!

The Most Amazing 3 Nights of Our 2 Weeks in Alaska
We arrived to find our quaint cabin cleaned and well stocked for our time there. We were expecting the bare minimum, but what we found certainly surpassed that. For example, we came prepared with a can of bear spray, only to find 4 cans full and recently checked. The kitchen accommodations were fantastic with a full 7 piece cooking set and a 2 burner stove/oven combo. Note, you won’t be able to cook a full thanksgiving dinner, but a whole chicken or small pizza will fit just fine inside the oven, but we found ourselves using the charcoal grill more than anything else. One word of advice, when the host says to bring bottled water, he’s right, as there is none available on site. However we brought our pump style water filter system and the creek water was amazing through it. The wood stove in the cabin was more than enough to heat the cabin without us having to turn on the propane furnace, even when it dropped into the 40’s. Jeff was amazing to work with and had good advice, if you call him in advanced of your trip. Levi, the on-site caretaker was very attentive to our needs and was always there to bring us more firewood for the wood stove when needed, or anything else that he was able to help us with. We saw tons of wildlife, including whales, sea otters, seals, fish, and plenty of birds. If you want a fabulous Alaska experience, this cabin is highly recommended.

Amazing Alaska adventure
We stayed at Pepper Creek Cabin, the cabin closest to the private beach. There are other cabins on the property higher up in the woods. Everything is spaced so that there is maximum privacy - except for a shared outhouse. For those staying higher up in the woods or using the outhouse, there are a lot of steps. I am 50 and in descent shape and had no issues going up the stairs several times a day. There are sea kayaks, paddle boards, fishing poles and an Alpine hiking trail (steep, but beautiful) on the property. We enjoyed all of the activities. We had fires on the beach and enjoyed whale watching (saw one while we were there). We also saw sea otters and a bald eagle. There is a 30 minute water taxi ride out to the property-also fun. The property manager, Levi, was on site to answer any questions. He was also available to give us a quick lesson on the sea kayaks as we had not used them before. Staying at the property felt like a real “Alaska experience” for our family, it was the highlight of our vacation to AK.

No electricity and no outlets.
I spent two nights in June 2022 at this cabin along with my husband, 11 year old son and 14 year old son. The natural beauty around the cabin was spectacular. However, I found the description of the property was a bit lacking. I think it would be helpful to plainly state that there is NO electricity and no outlets to plug things in. I think that this is a positive aspect of the cabin, but it is not plainly stated anywhere. We did not prepare for this and our phones died before we could take a lot of pictures. As far as kitchen appliances, There is a camping stove (2 burners) with attached oven that is powered by a propane tank (provided). Although the description describes different foodstuffs that are available, you should bring your own coffee (very small amount of Folgers available) and tea ( a few bags of earl gray available). There was no hot chocolate. There were no granola bars or other treats, as implied. Also, with regards to the privacy, there is a beach where you land. It is a shared landing beach for you and for at least 3 other cabins and the lodge. While these other dwellings are not next to the cabin, they are up a steep staircase to the side. These renters shared the kayaks and SUPs with you. There were no problems with any of this, but I just think that it should be clear that this cabin is remote but not alone. We saw at least 10-12 people up and down the stairs in front of the cabin, getting kayaks or just coming down to the beach chairs. If you are looking for an isolated getaway, this is not for you. While we had a wonderful experience enjoying the surrounding nature, the cabin itself was a bit lacking in its description and cleanliness, which is why I gave it a 3.

My favorite part of the trip
My husband and I spent two weeks in Alaska. We bounced around to many different rental homes and a couple of hotels because we had never been to Alaska and wanted to see as much as possible in the short time we had. We found that the coastal towns were the best, such as Homer, Seward and Whittier. By far, my favorite stay was my little cottage off the grid managed by Jeff who was an amazing at communication. It's different to be told you have to bring in all of your supplies because there is no water or electric, but that was certainly part of the adventure, and there was plenty of water to heat for a sponge bath, and to wash dishes in the beautiful creek and waterfalls that came out of the mountain, down to the beach. There was a little gas heater for cooking, very efficient, and a small wood burning stove, wood supplied for warmth, but we didn't need it very often since the weather was so beautiful. The gas burning camper style stove and kitchen sink, ( 5 gallon water bottle supplies for creek water for dishes), was perfect for rustic cooking and cleaning, and previous customers had left condiments and other goodies, just as we did. I would suggest an electric charger for your phone, or shut it down to conserve battery, although some of the other units on the property do have a generator. There were only two of us, so I chose the Pepper Creek Cabin, close to the beach, no walk up stairs. The view is perfect. When you take the kayaks out, you will see that the water is quite clear and you can see the multitudes of star fish on the rocks, as well as other sea life. Your photos will be Nat Geo quality considering where you are, it's probably where they go. There is a sea cave right next to the house, and some of other guests staying on the property had a seal and a sea otter pop up to inspect their kayaks. Ruff it a little bit, and enjoy the peace, it's a relaxing adventure and memory!!!

Remote cabin
My husband and I along with 2 teenagers had an awesome experience with a water taxi ride out to this sea-side location to enjoy 2 days with hiking, kayaking, and searching for sea life from the semi-private beach. The cabin had a few drawbacks as it has potential to become quite damp and dark. Bring extra lanterns and maybe some dry kindling if you see rain in the forecast. This cabin is the closest to the beach among a group of cabins situated upward along the mountain-side. A hiking trail extends further deep into the lush rain forest and eventually the glacial peak. Pepper Creek Cabin is well worth the time and effort. Other suggestions- plan for easy meals, warm clothes, rain pants, water shoes, water, firewood, and a hiking stick!

Seaside Solitude
Lovely location away from everything. There are a couple of other cabins on the property but you still have a feeling of privacy. Nice hiking trail available at the top of the property/mountain. Restroom “Facilities” require a steep climb up many stairs, but a stunning view awaits at the top. A beautiful stream runs beside the cabin and the beach is close to the front door. There are many kayaks available to use during good weather. The beach is a great spot to watch boats and look for whales. Be sure to bring rain gear, enough water for drinking, dish washing and personal hygiene-and enough matches for the cute little wood stove to stay warm during rainy days. There is a small supplemental gas stove that adds warmth as well. A headlamp for reading would be helpful as the cabin is located in a very shady spot. Cabin is well thought out with a comfy bed in the loft accessed from a ladder, and an excellent stove (abundant supply of gas canisters) and well stocked kitchen space. There’s a couch, table and chairs, battery operated lanterns and plenty of hooks to hang your clothes to dry on the first floor. Rustic charm!

Incredible location, views, can't be beat
WOW! This cabin is one of a few situated on a beach by Thumb Cove. The views and private location can't be beat. Staying here felt like a true Alaskan adventure with our 2 school-aged kids. The kayaking from the cabin is unbeatable and there are plenty of one and two person kayaks available, plus life vests, waterproof gear and paddles. We were blown away by the trail that the owner of the property created up the hill to even better views. We did not fully understand when we booked that "dry" means an outhouse behind the cabin, but it just added to the adventure. I would HIGHLY recommend renting here to enhance your trip to Alaska!

My wife and I spent three nights at the Pepper Creek Cabin after getting married in Resurrection Bay. It was the perfect escape to unplug and enjoy our time as a newly wed couple. The property is unbelievable. We packed quite a bit of gear and were happy to be at Pepper Creek Cabin, it is the only one of the cabins on the property that is actually on the beach and doesn't require walking up the stairs. Even with guests at other cabins we had tons of privacy. The kayaks were great to use, the beach was perfect. It is not a huge beach but there are some cool nooks to explore. The creek next to the cabin is beautiful and also a good source of water if you bring a filter instead of carrying the weight. There is a big yeti cooler on the deck also, just bring ice, food, drink, and clothes you're good to go. Consider some warmer clothing than you may think, it stays pretty cool in the shaded drainage where the cabin is located. Also, not a complaint, but we didn't realize the outhouse is at the top of the stairs near the main lodge, not right next to the cabin. There is a toilet installed on the back side of the cabin, but you have to carry your waste out with you in a bag if you use that. I'd rather just walk up the stairs and leave my business behind. Makes sense because the cabin is so close to the creek you can't dig a hole for an outhouse there otherwise it could pollute the stream. The cabin was clean with fresh bed sheets. I'm used to Alaska public use cabins, which was what my expectations were... this was a big step up from public use cabins. Also, bring some firewood.

Looking to get away from it all? This is the perfect place! The shared beach is a great place to meet neighbors staying at the other nearby cabins, beach comb or enjoy a bonfire after paddle boarding and kayaking! The scenery changes with the tides. We saw sea lions, otters, a variety of birds, jellies, lots of star fish and more. Pepper Creek Cabin is cozy, dark and cool making it perfect for escaping the rain and/or sleeping. The moisture in the air is a perfect reminder of how close we are to the sea! I loved hearing the creek and waves outside my windows! I didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back!

Awesome Setting!!!
We absolutley loved our 2 nights here. The kayaking was incredible and we loved making fires on the beach. We used Seward Water Taxi and extended our trip to the cabin with an additional one hour tour of Resurrection Bay. The owner was always quick to respond with any questions we had. As some of the other reviews suggested, the cabin is fairly dark even with the provided lanterns. We are inexperienced kayakers so we did get fairly wet at times getting in and out of the kayaks. Be sure to bring extra socks and some extra clothes in case you do get wet. We would definitely recommend this place to family and friends!
