The Moonshiner: Prohibition with a Steampunk Twist

The Moonshiner Cabin is a perfectly curated, hand-built treasure. Let it transport you back in time to an era of cocktails and jazz. The owners have lovingly curated this cabin using The Prohibition Era as inspiration and we guarantee there’s nothing else like it! Just a short jaunt to town, yet nestled among the oaks on 1.5 acres, this cabin has everything you require of modern life, but the charm and romance of a different century.
Gregory, a local craftsman, built nearly every inch of the cabin, including much of the furniture and all the light fixtures. Whenever possible he tucked the modern world just a little out of sight, including a hidden smart TV that drops down from the ceiling. This is truly a a one-of-a-kind retreat.

The Moonshiner Cabin is nestled among the hills and streams of the Hill Country, in the charming little village of Wimberley. Folks visit Wimberley to feel like they’ve traveled back to a bygone era where kids swing off ropes into creeks, everyone knows their neighbor, time slows down and summer nights under the stars last an eternity. This cabin embraces that nostalgic longing and we invite you to come stay for a spell.
Pet Fee:
Our pet fee is $50 each for friendly, leashed pets. Please declare pets at time of booking (max 2 pets without prior approval).
VRBO NOTE: Vrbo only charges one pet fee, so a 2nd pet fee will be added after booking, if applicable.
Note:the cabin is surrounded by nature on three sides and has a neighbor on the 4th side. There is a nice privacy fence on the neighbor side of the property. This property is not suitable for children.

The esthetic of the cabin is adorable! I absolutely loved all the little things that bright the theme to life in this cabin. However, there is no comfort to be found. The mattress slopes so bad to the middle my back hurt the entire stay. The couch is cool to look at but not comfortable. There are no cushions for any chairs outside or kitchen. Internet worked only the first night we were there. A rodent was trying to nest or chew through the wall every night of our 4 night stay. And to No fault of the hosts…the neighbors dogs are absolutely horrible! They will start barking at 2-230am and not stop the whole day. Unfortunately, this did not create the much needed serenity we were hoping for on our anniversary get away. We thought it would be a secluded place for relaxation, but in fact, the neighbors are very close and the fence is not built seamless enough to enjoy a private evening outside.

Our honeymoon at this cozy cabin was nothing short of magical! Tucked away in a peaceful setting, the cabin was the perfect blend of charm and comfort. The unique decor gave it so much personality—every corner had something special to admire. The hot tub under the stars was the ultimate romantic touch, making our evenings unforgettable. From the thoughtful amenities to the warm, inviting atmosphere, everything was perfect. If you’re looking for a dreamy getaway with character and relaxation, this place is a must!

Romantic getaway
Me and my boyfriend had a romantic getaway. We enjoyed the hottub and star gazing. Walking and shopping in town had dinner at chili's on the river. The cabin is very cute and has lots of charm and character. Feels like you stepped back in time.

This property was quiet and restful. Loved the outdoor shower and hot tub. Creative decor. Eco-conscious which was a plus. We used it as a home base for the Formula 1 race at COTA. Worked great.

Perfect getaway!
This little cabin in the woods was decorated perfectly, and cute as a button. The owners thought of every detail of decor, providing great conversation as we checked out all the little things he built by hand. Very relaxing with deer and other wildlife nearby. Proximity to town was perfect, only a few mins drive. We enjoyed the town shops and dining, stopped at a couple breweries, took in a night time kayak ride on the Comal, and a concert at Whitewater Amphitheater. All activities close and easy to get to and from this little cabin. I recommended to the owners that the bed is ready for replacement for a more comfortable night's sleep. But it still gets 5 stars as we 100% enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic!
Contactless check in was flawless. From the moment we walked in, we were in awe. The hot tub was sparkling clean and already hot. There was ice in the freezer. There was a bottle of Prosecco to welcome us. The details in the cabin were thoughtful and executed perfectly. The outdoor shower was such a fun element. This cabin feels secluded and remote, but it’s only 5 minutes to the Wimberley square. We are already planning to come again
