Lovely getaway
The property was lovely, and access to the beach from the backyard... priceless. Loved the ability to bring our pup along for the weekend. Great views and beautiful sunsets. A few things could use a little TLC, and the listing updated to reflect. Also a note that the septic system has a bit of an offputting sulfur smell, but totally appreciated the hot/cold water filter provided.

Great Beach Location
two friends and their dog stayed here for a wedding at Guremes Island Resort. The listing was accurate, but the automated responses to inquiries was a little frustrating. They let me know at about 3pm that I could check in early at Noon, same on the check out. Great place though and on the water.

Waterfront entertainment
Although the cabin is indeed "rustic" is was clean and the location is great. The shipping lanes in front of the cabin provided endless entertainment when not walking on the beach itself.

Peaceful stay on Guemes Channel
I rented this cozy place to meet my husband after he returned from 5 days of kayaking and camping in the San Juan Islands. This rustic A-frame has a front-row view of Guemes Channel and the twinkling lights of Anacortes at night. The king bed mattress in the loft is very comfortable, and the bathroom fresh and well stocked with towels. We enjoyed the cheery wood stove, and made good use of the two-night stash of firewood. Ferries, boats and sea planes do pass by occasionally, and we enjoyed watching this activity. Our last morning, an Orca with two juveniles made an appearance! The one and only General Store on Guemes Island was mainly a pub restaurant, with very limited supplies and food tucked in the far back, but we had the best apple pie ever there! We would re-book this place for sure!

Beautiful, quiet beach getaway
Great location and simple, lovely layout. With a yard rolling right down to the beach, a firepit outside and everything we needed, it was an amazing stay on Guemes.

Fun island. Wasn’t impressed with house
The house needs work. We felt there was no pride in ownership. Just simple things. New utensils. Clean the bathroom better. Dust the place. Put a fireplace on the deck that actually works. It had no air in the bottom and couldn’t have a fire. Replace the gate on the deck so you can actually go to the beach from the deck. Just needs some attention. Badly. But the topper for us was when we opened the fireplace inside the house and there was a dead bird. So gross.

Fantastic as long as you know you are taking a ferry!
Great rustic spot on the water. Note though..no w/d no dishwasher. All else is cozy and great! But another noteworthy mention. You take a ferry to the island and they stop running early on weekdays and rather early if attending evening events on the mainland!!!

Nice place; bring your own drinking water!! One burner on the stove not working, one cadet heater not working, wood for wood stove was under a carpet with lots of holes in it, so was wet. But, a great place, nice view over the water, and of course a great location.

Nice, but could be better
If you are staying here, you are paying for the view alone. There are zero amenities here. Don't expect to find a sharp knife or decent frying pan as they are non existent. You are on the beach, but don't look for a beach towel as there are none. You may want to take a bike ride, but nope. The check-out instructions ask you start a load of towels, but there isn't a washer or drier. The view is outstanding, and that is it. This locations is over-priced and doesn't look to have had a deep clean in a decade. Be sure to note that check out is an early 10am, too!

Relaxing getaway
The four of us enjoyed the quaint endearing quirkiness of this property. The cobwebs others have complained about were outside and easily mitigated with a damp paper towel. The bedroom light switch is a little finicky, but it'll work, just work with it. The stairs and railing to the beach are not present, but there are driftwood logs that have been stacked for makeshift steps which are functional. We found lovely stones which I think are called agates on the beach, and the kitchen was well equipped with items and cooking needs. Buy your groceries in Anacortes before the ferry, and consider bringing bottled water or gallons in case the taste of the water is unpleasant for you. All in all a lovely and relaxing getaway!

Very rustic cabin with great views
Okay, I'm going to go all out here. The place was very quaint the couch was comfortable the dining room table was comfortable for playing games. The kitchen cabinets need some wax on the bottom so they slide easier in and out very outdated kitchen I mean the houses built in the 1970s and it shows. You need decent spatulas that do not Splinter the plastic blue spatulas that you have are a old. The queen size bedroom light switch shorts out. Bring your own condiments they only have salt and pepper and virgin olive oil they have a K-Cup Keurig bring your own K-Cups definitely. Bring any kind of food you can bring. Plan your meals don't forget the butter. The General Store by the ferry has very limited selection of condiments. They do not have flavored cream they have half and half. If you want really good tasting coffee bring gallons of water for the coffee maker at least one gallon per two pots of coffee depending on how much coffee you drink. Which we drink it all day long so we needed a lot more water. If not your coffee will taste like fish or have a fishy smell because it's very hard water. Be careful walking down from the garage to the house as they need to put in a gravel pathway because it gets muddy and slippery and that's Washington for you we all know it gets wet here and they need to accommodate that area between the garage leading to the house is just a muddy little path. Some of the space heaters in the house do not work the one I noticed the kitchen facing the kitchen doesn't work the one in the queen size bedroom doesn't work. The one in the bathroom kicks out the Heat. That one heats up the whole back of the house for the most part. Other than that we had a great time it was very relaxing we were kind of bored not having TV but we adjusted we went out lots of walks on the beach. Met other people with dogs. On the beach. Everybody is very friendly. Oh don't buy any wood for the fire pit outside as they have lots of wood. We ended up leaving the wood we bought to replenish what we used cuz it was dry. Don't forget the marshmallows chocolate and graham crackers and possibly some pokers to cook your marshmallows. Oh and bring bug spray and maybe even a citronella candle for the table outside on the deck. We drove the whole island there's really not a lot to do. Hit all the beaches. There are a few. The general store has a summer series concert going on, Check their calendar. It was a relaxing time and forced us to talk to each other.

Small Island escape
Took Ferry to island $20 covered us round trip. Took our 2 dogs and 2 kids (8 & 10). Nice open living space, lots of seating, loved the couch and reading lamps, great deck with firepit. Decent kitchen gadgets, toaster, coffee pot, microwave, etc.. Beds are well used, lightweight bedding only. No stairs to rocky beach, used drift wood to get back up. Nice retreat, lovely ocean view, well kept yard.

Great little getaway
We made it out to the rustic Guemes Island cabin during one of the areas rare snowstorm events- we were lucky to get on the ferry! Fortunately, the snow contributed to the overall charm. We didn't use the outdoor deck a ton, because it was covered in snow but we loved the big, bright open windows to enjoy a beautiful view of the lawn, beach, water, boats, birds, wildlife and the twinkling homes across the channel in Anacortes. The neighbors were friendly and gave us even more joking recommendations but the handwritten directions to Peach Preserve were a delight, as was the Peach Preserve hike itself (though be sure to go at low tide if you can). There was plenty of wood to keep a sweet fire going and plenty of fun board games and puzzles to keep us all happy. We can't wait to come back for another low key vacation, although we might have to go in the summer because we want to use that glorious deck!!

So much potential
We loved many things however, the poor cleanliness of the home would prevent us from returning. The view is amazing and coziness of the cabin was wonderful. However, there were too many unclean areas to write about. It really needs a deep scrub. If it would have been clean, we would return over and over!
