No complaints!
Used little gem as landing spot for a few days of hiking around Asheville. Everything is as advertised, small and nothing fancy but exceedingly clean and comfortable. King size bed was a welcome addition as was the hot tub. Great for unwinding after a long day. The best part was the wild life pretty much right outside any window or porch at all times and a rushing stream you could hear with the windows open. So peaceful! Overall great value for the affordable price.

Wedding week
We came to NC for a good friends wedding. We wanted to be close to where they were staying and this was perfect. We were about 10ish minutes from the small town and main street where they had some restaurants and shopping. And not far from the bigger towns. It was nice to be a bit secluded as well! The hot tub was perfect and the house was a perfect size for the 2 of us. It even has a little stream and some chairs to sit at while enjoying the weather.

Super nice place. The drive to the location is a beautiful mountain experience and once we arrived, the stream, the trees, the deer and the mountains placed a wonderful backdrop for a 3 day getaway.

Quiet and Cozy
The cabin was quiet and cozy. The bed was very comfortable in a large bedroom. Appreciated having the ability to do a load of laundry after traveling almost one thousand miles. Just outside of Mars Hill, our destination, this little cabin at the base of a mountain was a lovely retreat. We loved the wildlife, sound of the creek and beauty all around. The quiet was just what we needed to read, chat and journal. We loved grilling out and eating on the porch and getting out of the cabin for fresh mountain air. Needed a bit of airing out, but otherwise lovely!

We have always loved Asheville, we live in Statesville but have friends in this area. We came this trip for my 33rd birthday, kid free. Drinking coffee on the deck by the creek was so peaceful. Great little kitchen with all We needed. We will definitely be back. Give brownie our love!

The hottub was perfect and the setting was peaceful. The washer and dryer came in handy! We were worried we would be the ones without a visit from the neighbor's dog but we were greeted upon our departure! There was everything we ever needed, thank you!

A hidden gem!
Honeycutt cottage is perfect for couples or small families who would like the feeling of being in a secluded rural home, but also 30 minutes away from downtown Asheville. The cottage itself is just darling and has all the amenities one could need for a short stay. The hot tub on the porch is one of the best features! Some reviews mention that the listing could be misleading as this isn't a cottage in the middle of 400 acres. It does sit right off the road and there are neighbors across the street. However, we barely noticed that. Even in March we could hardly see the house and once everything grows in I bet you couldn't see them at all. Their dogs are very friendly by the way :) Behind the cottage is a large cow field with 3 cows that were nice to watch from the hot tub. I would say make sure you bring a pen with you to fill out their guest book (I didn't have a pen with me and didn't get to write in it unfortunately). Overall this cottage is a wonderful place to stay for the Asheville area, 5 stars!

Honeycutt Cottage
The inside of this property is newly updated and was very clean upon arrival. The king sized bed was comfortable and the wood stove was such a great addition. We really enjoyed the hot tub and fully stocked kitchen. However, it is a bit misleading to say this property is secluded and on a 400 acre farm. There were neighbors directly across the street that were very loud at night, we could hear their conversations with the door and windows all shut, and traffic was heavy on this small road.

The most restful getaway EVER
Honeycutt Cottage was perfect for my husband and I to get some rest and relaxation away from our very busy lives. The cottage had everything we needed and more. The area is remote, but close enough to a very cute town with all amenities necessary (grocery store, bbq restaurant with delicious food). The hot tub was a bonus, as was the deck overlooking the stream. Great place for morning yoga and happy hour drinks in the evening. The cows in the field behind the cottage were a source of much amusement. We also did some wonderful hiking, which was not far at all. Asheville is very close, however, we just didn’t feel the need to leave the area. If you fly into Asheville, spend the day wandering around the eclectic town. We stopped at Trader Joe’s in Asheville before making our way north to cottage, which was a good move. A bbq is provided, so make sure you get the goods to grill out. I would highly recommend Honeycutt Cottage for a getaway from everything. It is a great way to unplug from life.

Decent but advertising is misleading
If the cottage was advertised more accurately, this would have been more enjoyable. The interior of the house does match the pictures, but take note there is no door to the bedroom. If there is a third traveler sleeping on the couch there would be no privacy between the rooms. The way the listing says this is a secluded cottage nestled on 400 acres is misleading. The house is about 15-20 feet from the road, directly across a double wide with broken down vehicles (one at the driveway). Behind the house and on the side of the house about 15 feet back is an inaccessible cow pasture. Someone came onto the property to close the gate and let the cows into the pasture without notifying us. The house may be on 400 acres of land, but really you only have access to less than an acre. The pond is 1/2 a mile down the road and doesn’t look easy to access. You would have to walk on a very windy road with no shoulder to get to it. The house had a smell to it each time we got back, but we adjusted to it fast. The hot tub worked well, was definitely a 2 person hot tub, but was not comfortable for us to sit in long because the interior lining texture was very rough like sand paper. A few other things: there was a dehumidifier in the bathroom that was really noise and the fridge door kept coming open during our stay so our food never stayed too cold. If you’re just looking for a quiet place to stay this cottage was nice. We would have enjoyed the stay more is we had a more accurate expectation. The bed was very comfortable and the linens provided were nice.

I'd love to get my money back.
We decided not to check in. Honestly, we were very disappointed.  We saw a wide variety of old dilapidated mobile homes, barns that were falling down, and there were random broken down vehicles everywhere with one, in particular, parked right at the entrance to the driveway... SO CREEPY. The "lush green 400 acres" as advertised is not exactly the best way to describe what we saw. Without me going into too much more detail, this was absolutely an area we were NOT comfortable staying in.  We would certainly appreciate our money back as we ended up having to get a hotel last minute and the property was not as advertised at all. I'm not sure who took the pictures for the advertisement of this property, but they deserve some kind of award.  I will say: We have laughed hysterically about this rental for over 12 hours at this point as the location of this property and the drive up to it is exactly what nightmares are made of.  Please let me know if any of our money can be refunded.

My cottage experience
The home itself was cute and clean. Upon first arriving I was a little let down that it was across the road from a double wide trailer with a bunch of old cars parked out front. I was expecting a more “secluded experience” from the add. When I first walked in I could smell hints of stale smoke and a lot of heavy deodorizers which I wasn’t thrilled about. I sort of felt like I had just entered a gas station bathroom . The house was cute and well maintained other than that. My other disappointment was that I had booked the home because it had a hot tub and wood stove . There was a note on the wood stove saying they were sorry but that it was out of order and to please not use it. All and all the home was well equipped and cute. My only complaints were that I felt like It’s photos of property were a bit misleading and was disappointed by the broken wood stove.
