This secluded house sits up in the tree line surrounded by wild blueberries, taking in stunning 180-degree views of the surrounding forest. Just down the hill on the main road, the landscape opens up to the historic Stone Barn Farm and Peggy Rockefeller Farm on Norway Drive, just 10 minutes from the center of Bar Harbor and five minutes to the the entrance of Acadia National Park.
The house contains a very comfortable open-plan kitchen and living space, which opens onto a porch perfect for grilling or enjoying the sunset. There is real privacy and peace here, aided by the forest setting and the commanding sense of space and open air. The property is on 21 acres of protected woodland, located about a mile from the ocean. The surrounding area also has fresh water swimming spots within 5 and ten minutes driving.
We, the hosts, live less than a quarter mile up the road on Norway Drive, and are therefore easily accessible at most any time or in any circumstance. We are happy to help you find your way around the neighborhood, or provide local recommendations.
The neighborhood of Norway Drive-- from which Blueberry Hill extends-- is really quite unique in its rural quality. On your way to and from the house, you will pass pastures not to be seen elsewhere on Mount Desert Island, charming old farmhouses, horses, sheep, cows. The sea breeze sweeps in from Salsbury Cove, and the chickadees are all around. You will definitely like it here!
