Mould the bathroom, carpets and bathrooms all need replacing, terrible odor throughout hotel. Wait staff in restaurant were unfriendly and didn’t smile.

The property is well located , there is a metro right next to it also a lot of groceries store and restaurants. Great location to stay . Front desk customer service are ok but not too friendly . Also there is a strong odor as soon as you walked in to the main hotel lobby and in the room bathroom (smell a lot a humidity and source ) however the room was very spacious with an excellent view .

The front desk was extremely unhelpful and rude. The Air conditioning didn’t work and he didn’t seem to care. Also the WiFi didn’t work a majority of the trip.

Hotel with genuine character
Excellent location!!! Metro station outside and a 5 minute walk away from the bustling jewish district with its nightlife and cafes. This hotel has actual character, you sense its history and if walls could talk... Great buffet breakfast. But yeah its the unique charm that won me over. Staff are polite and professional. Loved our stay in Budapest and the Astoria was a great spot to base ourselves.

This hotel was OK. It is in a very good area and there is a lot to do around there. The city is lovely and Budapest is highly recommended for anyone. But this hotel did come up short in some respects. It had mainly to do with the staff that did not seem to know a lot of basic things that they needed to do. I was supposed to be a VIP stay with multiple of advantages. I received none of them. The staff was borderline incompetent at times. Their breakfast was not good. Their bartender did not know how to make a martini. The front staff could not arrange for transportation to the airport in a professional manner. This left me frustrated and disappointed. But the actual hotel itself is nice and the room was nice. Overall I probably would not stay here again if I had any choice.

A beautiful hotel with lots of original fittings and features. A film crew were then when we arrived which made it feel quite busy but we were able to check in early and make the most of our stay. Hotel is on quite a busy intersection with traffic and sirens late into the night. Convenient for hop on/hop off bus and walking to main tourist areas. Really friendly and helpful staff, excellent buffet breakfast. Would happily stay there again!

The room a little small for two persons. Beds make some noise. It was ok, not incredible. Room was far away from the elevator. The restaurant was so good as well the breakfast. I was explained that they did not have any other room to upgrade.

The hotel is older but very clean. Comfortable bed, decent sized room, shower tended to leak all over the floor. Breakfast was expansive and plentiful. Breads good, pastries average. Can order eggs cooked any style.

All in all, this isn’t a bad location to lodge while visiting Budapest. The location is pretty good. The metro (red), tram (yellow), and bus (blue) Astoria stops are all right by the hotel, so it’s fairly easy to access transportation. The hotel is a bit weathered. It’s still a nice facility overall, but it does show its age. Budapest is often hot, and the AC, in general, isn't really very good - at least to American standards. The Danubius Astoria is no exception. We enjoyed a suite and it was very spacious, including 1 and 1/2 baths, sitting room and bedroom. It was also at the corner building and included three balconies, which opened for great views of the city. The breakfast was standard European fare based on our experience with some local twists added in for a taste of Hungarian dishes. I'm glad we included it with our stay. For the price, it was a pleasant stay, and particularly if some updates to the facilities were made in the near future, I would not count out a return stay.
