1BR Suite in a Gorgeous Antebellum Mansion

Summary:
This gorgeous home features restored antique heart pine flooring, tongue and groove walls, with original European hardware. Fixtures like the imported La Cornue gas range and big Green Egg grill add the final contemporary touches. Walkable to MUSC, CofC, King Street’s most popular retail and restaurants, & more.

The Space:
The building has been fully renovated and was completed in spring 2017. Measuring just under 500 square feet, the apartment offers one bedroom featuring premium bedding and a full bathroom with shower. Thoughtful care has been put into crafting a clean and efficient space that offers all of the amenities of a boutique hotel (bath products, high-end towels and linens, hair dryers, iron, wi-fi, premium TV channels, etc.) with the added convenience of a full, chef-ready kitchen, washer/dryer, and a classic Charleston single-style porch for enjoying the nearly year-round comfortable temperatures Charleston offers its visitors.

Off-street parking for one car is provided free of charge. Any additional parking is $20 a day per car.

Guest Access:
You have access to the large front porch with dedicated seating for only you, rear porch, and patio with big Green Egg charcoal grill, charcoal being complimentary of course.

The Neighborhood:
Once the site of colonial lumber mills, Cannonborough is now an inviting neighborhood blending stylish historic and reproduction architecture. It's also located within walking distance of Upper King Street's excellent restaurants, shops, and bars.

Visitors can enjoy convenient dining options directly next door At Southbound and Ladles Soup/ Across from the apartment; indulge in the city’s most charming bakery – Sugar Bakeshop - located just across the street from the rental; and gab your morning coffee and bagels just down the street at Holey City Bagels! Many of the city’s most notable eateries are located in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood, or an easy walk from the rental. O-Ku, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, Chez Nous, The Darling Oyster Bar, The Grocery, Indaco, The Ordinary, Xiao Bao Biscuit, Warehouse, Chubby Fish.

Getting Around:
The location is ideally suited for walking, but Uber and Lyft are also readily available.

Other Things to Note:
We are three blocks from King Street. Cannon Street dead ends into King where you would be right in the middle of all the activity - many nice restaurants such as The Darling, the Grocery, Ordinary, Endaco, good places to have drinks like Stars, the Belmont, Midtown, Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street. Pick the experience - fine dining to relaxed outdoor dining, it is here. You could look up Hominy Grill, Chez Nous, Trattoria Lucca, Fuel, Goulette. Since Cannon Street (and Spring Street) are the only legal areas in the city to host short term rentals in Charleston, you will be in good company here.

If you want the full Charleston experience you need to sign up for a walking tour or carriage tour, a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter several times daily so that you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.

Interaction with Guests:
We are available for questions and we're glad to assist in any way we can.
During your stay at this holiday home, you're just a quick walk from Medical University of South Carolina. The holiday home offers a kitchen and a TV.
  • Air-conditioned home with kitchen, washing machine and TVs
  • Amenities include a car charging station
  • Within a 15-minute walk of Medical University of South Carolina and College of Charleston
1BR Suite in a Gorgeous Antebellum Mansion offers its guests barbecue grills. The front desk is open around the clock.

World Class Property
I often stay at VRBO properties and this property is top-notich. It is obvious that the property owners are experienced property owners and the property is used for retnals only (no personal items or clutter). Every detail is perfect. The location is great; however, you can hear noise at night, but noise machines are availbale in each room. No parking available at the property, but super easy parking available across the street. The property actually has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, not two as advertisied. Highly recommend--awesome property.

Historical Hideaway!
We loved staying in this home! It was everything and more that we wanted. It was close enough to within walking distance from everything, yet far enough away to give us privacy. It was amazing and beautiful and we will stay there again! Thank you, George and gang for such a beautiful and wonderful experience!

Lovely and welcoming
The place was really beautifully renovated, clean and great for our group of 4. I choose owner rentals for the kitchen and amenities over hotels and this one worked well. The only thing I would recommend is to be very clear on parking which was confusing and awkward. Other than that Morgan was extremely helpful and took great care to make sure we got settled in. We want to come back.

Hidden Gem in Charleston
I booked the upper unit for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. Everything exceeded my expectations. The level of care put into every detail is outstanding. I loved having my morning coffee on the porch. It very much felt like a private enclave, tucked away from the downtown, but still in walking distance to all you need. Definitely dine at the adorable restaurant on the property and order a sandwich from the eatery called Ladels below the main house. I will definitely be back. It’s rare for a rental property to make me feel as though I’m “home” while traveling. Thank you!

Great trip
We stayed in this cute place for 3 nights recently. It was well decorated and comfortable. We had everything we needed. Our 2 teens had their own rooms and bathrooms. We had a great picnic table on the balcony where we had coffee and cocktails. It was with easy walking distance to restaurants and King St. Loved it. Hope to stay here again one day.

Quiet location, very close to King street!
I enjoyed my stay at the Charlestonian! This property is located on a very quiet street approximately 3 blocks away from King street. While King street is within walking distance, my boyfriend and I decided to make the super short drive up instead. The check in process was basically seamless. We met with a representative from the property and she let us in and gave us a tour of the property. Anytime I needed to get in touch with the property owner/representative they were super quick to respond to all of my questions, before and during my stay. There was a hiccup with scheduling of the property, we originally had booked the third floor unit, but had to eventually be moved to garden unit due to the scheduling issue. Just know these properties are listed on multiple sites, so there’s a chance you might not be able to stay in the unit you originally requested. That being said, the unit was impeccably decorated, and was extremely clean. Overall, we had a lovely experience and would most definitely stay at the. Charlestonian again!
